Not sure about swimming here, but it is definitely a photo-worthy place if you just want to get some nice pictures.

The area I have visited on several occasions is clothing optional. It is not heavily populated and if it's your first time at a nude area you can find a pretty private area. Most visitors are men. I am interested in hearing the impression from any females that use or like this area.

Great place for a nude swim and people are friendly. Plenty of space to just lay in the sun or sit in the shade. The nude area is two hundred meters from the bottom of the concrete path, the car park is located north or on the right side when you drive in from the main entrance but be aware if you have a problem with nudity then you have a choice to go to the south side which is clothing only, if you’re curious and want to try it out you can always take a walk through and you never know you might find a good spot and try it out, everyone is the same in the nude. I recommend with the weather getting warmer and a lot of wet weather lately the grass has grown quite long and it’s a perfect environment for snakes so keep your eyes open and if you come across one especially the eastern brown, you should stop immediately and not move suddenly and when you know it’s going move back carefully and slowly and keep your eyes on it until you have a good distance, also let others know about it. A little info about snake bites is more than 90% are not lethal, only if it bites and hangs on otherwise it is just a warning when they do a quick strike.

Great swim spot - but people are also quite publicly intimate in this area (can be surprising if you're just wanting a swim).Still an iconic Canberra experience and an absolutely beautiful part of the river.Some friendly lovely people, but also some creepy lurkers.Wish there were less creepy men. If you look new and or awkward - the regulars are quick to let you know which areas are for more intimate encounters, it does sometimes come across as an invite to join these areas/a bit too friendly.
