Salt Village Fish & Chips
Great food. I had the works burger and it was messy but delicious. They also gave me a free tub of sauce for my chips which tasted so good! Bit pricey but everything is pricey in kingscliff

A simple enough meal. But the grilled barramundi was a little uncooked in the middle. Would have gone back to show/get money back/something but the time was not worth the value. The outer parts were fine, just the middle strip was unfortunately undercooked.Salad was a simple Greek salad. Nothing drool worthy.

PlasticOrdered salmon and salad - $28, salmon was served in foil. Arriving home to open the foil and find a piece of plastic the size of the salmon fillet on the bottom.

Really disappointed in the price and size of their fish. This piece of fish we were charged $18 no chips just the fish, when we questioned the guy said it's because it's snapper and it's fresh...we ended up spending $40 on a burger, piece of snapper and a handful of chips, no drinks in that price. The only reason I've given 2 stars is because the fish actually tasted ok. But when your paying $18 for 1 piece of fish you expect a good portion. Feeling ripped off.

The menu was fairly basic with limited options. Having said that, the food itself was quite good and obviously fresh. The portion size was quite generous without being too large. Price wise it was on par with other fish and chips in the area. I would eat there again.

As other reviews have stated, the quality of ingredients is extremely poor. Chips didn’t taste fresh, battered fish was soggy with no crunch, calamari is noticeably processed, potato cakes are extremely bland as are the seafood sticks. I’m never one to be picky but definitely seems to be something off with the ingredients being used. The positives from here were that we ordered early around 5pm and the food was ready in less than 10 mins.

My partner and I came here two years ago and it was awesome. Amazing salads, amazing fish. Super fresh and so tasty we ended up coming here 4 times on that trip.Tried again last night, the woman serving us was surprisingly rude for someone who is working FOH. She greeted my partner and then proceeded mid greeting to laugh amongst her colleagues behind her, barely even paying him notice when trying to place an order. She was blunt and cold. The food took a good amount of time to come out and once it did it was extremely disappointing. Fish (Barra) had an overwhelmingly fishy taste which is usually a sign that the fish is either old when cooked or farmed. Chips were soggy, no salt added so once we received our order we then had to wait another 5 minutes to get the attention of staff to ask for salt. Salad was soggy and had no dressing. So so disappointed. Dinner of two fish and chips with salad came to $50 and I didn’t even eat mine. Felt like I got ripped off, for sure this experience has made me decide to not return. It seems like a possible owner change because this place used to be awesome!

Selecting one star, as there was no option for no stars...Where to begin...it's been covered about 50 times from other folks, but let me attempt to articulate this slow motion train smash.Placed order, only one person in front of me, no one behind me. Lady who took the order already looked confused, but given the simplicity of the order, figured all was understood. After a few minutes I realised, they process each order in the exact order they were received. So if there are 10 people in front of you getting cooked meals, and you order a cold salad from the window, you'll be waiting in spot number 11 despite there being no cooking required...Fast forward 40 minutes, I go back to the counter and ask why there have been 6 people who arrived after me that have been served their meals...she looks puzzled, checks the orders, realizes she hasn't even started to cook the meal, then tries to blame the other cook, then looks at me and starts ranting like I'm somehow the one at fault.Another 15 minutes go by, and we have our food. No apology, no acknowledgement, just a grunt from the nasty bag behind the counter. We get home, and just when we thought the fun was done, it starts all over again. If you were to carbon date that fish, I'm quite certain it was from the cretaceous period...nothing like the sweet taste of freezer burn!My wife elected for the crumbed fish thinking it was a healthier option...had a chuckle when we saw that the 'crumbed' fish is actually battered first, then rolled in the crumbs, so it's actually a double-whammy...sorry wifey. When we cut into the fish, the batter on the inside was still raw (see picture), and the crumbs on the outside were burnt. To add insalt (yep, intentional) to injury, we then realise she forgot to add salt to the (bright yellow!?) chips. In short, a disaster from start to finish, and bloody expensive for the quality of food we received. Do not waste your time on this dump - food and service is a joke! The only saving grace was the Golden Gaytime we purchased at the mini mart during the 50 minute wait...
