Rusty Iron Thai Restaurant Wynyard

We came here in the opening week, hoping it would be a good experience..... it was excellent, the service was great and the food is authentic, fresh and home made. We've now been here 16 times and the kitchen has never disappointed.Strongly recommend the Fish cakes, Curry puffs, Larb Gai and any/all of the currys.Recently cocktails have been available the Lemon Drop is well worth a go or 2!Can not recommend The Rusty Iron enough it's a proper taste of Thai in Wynyard.

Really a lovely place! The food was delicious and large meal. Service was very friendly since the front door. Always attentive. Décoration was cute. Really enjoyed this dinner. Would definitely Come back!

The place looked nice and clean but the prices were not clear on the menu. We came from Hobart and have Thai food on a regular, but to pay and additional 10 percent surcharge and not on the menu was you extra for meat, chicken, and seafood Not happy at all. Wont be recommending this restaurant.

Vibe: alright! Love the vintage tablecloth. The back part of the restaurant is too dim for my liking. Plays Thai music tooFood: portions are generous, flavourful, but later appeared to be a work of MSG as we all scrambled for water to quenchService: staff is nice and friendly!

Most expensive Thai take away I have ever had!!!! Complete rip off. Take away for 2 people costing $109 for 3 small containers and 2 entre items. Absolutely ridiculous and criminal. Went back and went through the menu after thinking it was a mistake. Even the lady serving me at the counter agreed with me menu pricing was hard to follow. Extremely deceptive and extremely expensive for a small seaside town. Food was not to rave about and neither good or bad and I was trying to find the hidden gold nuggets when eating it to justify the exorbitant overbearing cost. Even if I was ever to visit Wynyard again I would go to the Chinese food restaurant across the road which was 2/3 the cost and much more food. I would expect that level of pricing in ritzy restaurant in Sydney but not Wynyard. Taking advantage of tourists like you did, you should be ashamed.Response shows what an obnoxious small minded owner you are. Sure you will say nasty things to defend your honour but the truth is simply over priced for food received. Look at the other reviews saying same. Saying food prices have gone up is obvious but not that much to justify cost and it has nothing to do with clients liking your food. Just to add I got the same items in a smaller town in Tassie for $64. So if they are more isolated why can they still charge way less? Maybe better supplier or just more reasonably priced. Obviously you need to change supliers. As for education be careful about you assumptions. I have been in the industry for 40 years and own 5 successful restaurants so be careful who needs to educate who! Merry Xmas to you also from the cave people!

Great food and a great host. The food is Thai at its best. While not cheap it is well worth the cost and is Thai how it is meant to be: fresh and tasty. Kudos to the restaurant and well worth visiting again. The special of Pork Belly and Cucumber salad was fresh and crispy and the Pad Thai was great with smaller noodles that held the tasty sauce.

Great food and service. Had the Thai green chicken curry, very nice. Reasonably priced and prompt service.

Always difficult to know where to dine when visiting a new town but Rusty Iron certainly did not disappoint....the food was delicious and the staff very friendly.

Great food and fantastic service. We had Penang curry and laab gai which I asked to be spicy (phet maak). Absolutely delicious on both accounts. Will definitely come back
