Urban Rec Canberra

I have been playing with urban rec for a couple of seasons, and I absolutely love it. They make any sport easy to get into as a newbie, and you never feel bad for not understanding the rules. The players are great, and the staff is amazing. Can highly recommend joining any of the leagues they offer!

wasn't impressed as i found it was upto the refs decision on how the game was played and what the rules were. There was no constancy and in essence wasn't a real basketball game.its great if you just wnat to throw up shots and not be blocked or really play hard

Most of the people who play don't know the rules of the games. The referee does not call (for netball) contact, obstruction, etc and players come just short of tackling other players. Players get injured often and it's not fun, it's dangerous. Urban Rec take no responsibility for the unsafe environment they create.

My team and I have played netball with Urban Rec for three plus years. We highly recommend them if you are looking for a fun and social league. They provide a friendly and safe competition where issues such as unsportsmanlike behaviour are managed professionally. Their staff are responsive and come up with new ideas all the time to engage people in sport.

Absolutely love Urban Req! Definitely the highlight of my week playing beach volleyball and I've met tons of awesome people!

Urban rec is a super fun, low stress comp. A great way to learn anew sport or get back into one you haven't played for years!

I’ve played a lot of basketball in Canberra over the years, at a multitude of levels, and nothing compares to the fun and enjoyment I have playing Urban Rec on a Sunday. We’ve had a few hosts come and go over the years and every single one has been excellent and extremely pleasant to deal with. This is a testament to the culture the UR management instilled in their staff and organisation as a whole.If a fun and casual basketball experience is what you’re after, then Urban Rec is the place for you, whether you have a little skilled or not.

Been with Urban Rec playing beach volleyball for almost 3 years now, and is still the one thing I look forward to doing each week :) Very chilled and social, and lots of other sports to choose from too.

Depending on the staff that look after your sport, you will either have a fantastic time, or be suspended. I had a number of seasons playing with Merici without incident, however I had my membership cancelled due to player complaint after two seasons at Canberra High.The staff I dealt with during this process were frustrating to deal with, who refused to take into account anything other that the details raised by the complainant. At times, I was met with apathy, at other times, condescension to the point of insult.I'm frustrated and disappointed that at times, Urban Rec facilitates and protects bullies, whilst suspending players who react unfavourably to this treatment.As mentioned above, this isn't universal, and maybe at another venue, I would still be allowed to play with my friends. But I wasn't, so here we are.EDIT:I never hissed" at anyone
