Voyages Ayers Rock Resort IGA

We were told when making the booking no cash allowed in Yulara. Not true, supermarket takes cash and so does the post office. Supermarket had a very good selection of food and not as dear as I was expecting !

The first thing to know about the IGA at Yulara are the trading hours 10am to 7pm. So no last minute breakfast runs, no late night ice cream cravings. Get yourself organised, especially if you’re arriving in the late afternoon.For a small store (roughly twice the size of a suburban 7-Eleven) there are a lot of gluten free products.There’s all your standard items that are gluten free in Australia. Packets of chips (crips), fresh foods, small goods (most brands are GF), rice crackers, flavoured milks, yoghurts / dairy, curry kits / sauces, sauces for Asian dishes like pad thai or green curry and five cabinets of ice creams (check this list to see what ice creams are gluten free in Australia).More special gluten free items include, Carman’s protein bars (like a luxury granola/muesli bar).Six types of gluten free pasta (including a gnocchi)Three breadsFlour, breadcrumbs, egg replacerThree cereals and three ‘porridge’ options (oats are not allowed to be gluten free in Australia)Plus a range of sweet biscuits and crackers.

Considering the location, it was nice to have a little IGA in the town of Ayer’s Rock. Although it was quite small and various parts of the shelves were empty (I.e., the tuna and the instant soup section), they had quite a wide range of products to suit people of different tastes and preferences. The prices were probably a bit more than what you’d get in a city (at least for fresh fruit), but that’s to be expected. Staff were relatively good and friendly but sometimes it felt like the lines were moving pretty slowly.

Was a decent selection when we went, it's remote, so high prices on the perishables like milk is expected.. however some of the prices for a few items are more of a money grab - not having bowls in rooms and then charging $8 for a plastic bowl is pretty grubby.

Larger than expected supermarket. It caters for those of the local area as well as the resort so lots of variety.Pricing isn’t too bad, obviously pricier than average but cheaper than other rural places I’ve stayed!Very well stocked shelves, you can also buy freshly made products, breads, pastries and daily made sandwiches and salads. Along with all the essentials!

Well assorted shop with all the everyday requirements in groceries and extras.A bit pricey, but considering the location I guess that it's only fair.The shop is not just serving the visitors to the resort but also the approximately 800 staff living and working at the resort and servicing businesses.

Somewhat reasonably priced food, more options if your room has cooking facilities and you don't want to line up for the restaurants. Located in town square, sort of walking distance from most of the resort places, there is also a bus loop service that operates around the resort which might be handy.

Great selection of everything. Staff were friendly and helpful.Fresh fruit and vegetables was excellent.

Prices weren't as bad as people say lettuce was 2 dollars .most things a dollar or 2 higher but water was 17.95 for a slab of 600 ml bottles
