Abundant Layers

I bought 6x ‘sexed’ 1 day old chicks and later found out 3 of them were roosters. They refused to take them back and were very rude. After pushing them they offered a part refund if I could prove they were roosters. I then had to figure out how to rehome 3 roosters as I live in suburbia. I trusted Abundant layers when they told me the 6 chicks I bought were all females. Very disappointing

Unfortunately their accuracy rate indentifying 16 Wks old hens are quite weak. Not sure if it is deliberate but well... our first pair of Wyandotte and Silkie were lovely. Then the second time, AL jacked up the price to $65 per chook for a white sussex and a silkie. Prices are fine with me if they had been hens!I took a pic of the sussex when it arrived at my place and shared it on an interest group a few weeks later who then had members told me that I got a rooster. I am quite new to having chooks and so didnt know. Apparently it was already very obvious to the seasoned chook people when my sussex first came. Sadly, we live 3 hrs away so we were lucky to find someone to adopt him.

Do not purchase birds. We purchased 2 older hens which have infected the rest of our flock. I am assuming they are infected with gapeworm but am not 100%. Definitely carrying some form of virus or infection. A complete waste of time and money. Now left with over a dozen seriously ill hens.We were told hens were vaccinated and wormed prior to purchase. Thanks for making my girls ill. Will never purchase from abundant layers again.

So I've purchased Pullets and 8wk olds here now. Was Assured they were all female. First time was able to do an Exchange. Second time, no mention of a policy change when I collected the 8wk olds. He knew I live in Suburbia, so no roosters allowed, I double queried are you sure that they are both female. He assured me that they are. Move on a month later, I notice distinct red wattles etc, so I contact them, first try calling then texting with images. Get Informed that on their website

purchased two 15 week silkie pullets , Abundant Layers were very nice to buy from and lovely farm, and the chicken are so quiet and friendly, very healthy and have had their vaccinations . AAA

Last breeding season I visited Abundant layers every time one of my hens went broody. Which turn out to be very often as I purchased over 45 (day old) chicks. My daughter had great fun picking chicks and looking after them. We expanded into two new pen with Sussex and Araucana. Later in the breeding season I got some older Polish chickens. All the birds were health and vaccinated. Highly recommend if your wanting to get into chickens. Thanks Angelique and Matt for your help and advice.I've add some photos.

Its so hard to find good quality poultry, but we found Abundant Layers to be very professional, and has consistently supplied us with good quality birds...we wont buy from anyone else.

The owner is an excellent chicken breeder. We were buying day old chicks several times in last 4 years. There is a variety of breeds to choose from. The owner is an honest and hardworking man. The chicks were vacinated.However, in Dec 2021 the owner decided to cancel the replacement warranty for the birds gender. Previously, if a chick turns out to grow into a rooster, the owner would accept the bird back and provide another chick in exchange. At least every third chick in my batch turned out to be a rooster; the exchange warranty gave me an easy way to get rid of it and get another young and pretty for my children. I hope the owner will return the exchange policy back.

An absolute waste of anyone’s time driving to this place. We drove 1 and a half hours to come here and were 15 minutes late because of road works. Then he cancels on us right outside of his gate. An absurd experience.Edit: we did communicate progress along the way. Anyway, probably should have read more reviews before setting out. All makes sense now.

Three out of the four day-old-chicks we purchased turned out to be roosters. We loved raising all four but sadly cannot keep roosters in our area.
