Captain Cook Memorial Fountain
Icon of Newcastle. For crying out loud don't let your kids bathe in the fountain, its disgusting and happens too often. The best place to experience it is atop the stairs on the bench under the tree on a slightly breezy but sunny day and let the fountain spray hit you for six.

Under construction on 3-12-2011. Scaffolding all around fountain so it is difficult to see anything from the park and it is nite accessible from Lamab street.

Artist Zac Craig created these pieces at the top of the stairs above the fountain for Chalk the Walk Feb 12th - 21st, 2021.Great spot with lots of people coming by to see the artwork being produced and pose for photos.
