Nice place for a visit and to buy souvenirs. The owners are friendly and keen to have a yarn. The underground mine is the real deal and the explanations, signage and props give a really good idea on how people mined opals a century ago. Good experience for kids and grown ups alike.

We did the self-guided tour, my kids loved it being able to walk through the underground mine was really exciting for them.So much info, and things to look at.The staff were really friendly and helpful too. Great customer service.

Great mine, where you can actually see how hard it is to find or miss the opal. Living underground is certainly different & the temperature underground doesn't vary as much as above ground.Also, a bonus being able to free camp next door.

An actual opal mine, now abandoned, has been beautifully maintained. A self guided tour is available ($15 only).Quite an impressive store with the friendliest owners behind the counter.

A nice big flat area for all sized rigs. One toilet available. Must be self sufficient for everything else including taking your rubbish away. But who's complaining it's FREE! You can also walk up a few steps to see the museum and access the self guided mine tour. The tour was great with lots of information. The kids loved working out where the next information/exhibit was and going into the little off shoots. You could really see the way these opal hunters worked and how confusing the tunnels were. Well worth the money!! Best noodling pits we've been to - lots of little bits of colour for a jar of memories!!!!
