Scalable Fish-op

A local fish and chips shop in the north west setting themselves apart from others with their soda batter. Ordered a fish and chips pack, some potato cakes and a moreton bay bug slider to try. The slider was tasty with some tartar sauce, a bit small but expected for the price. Potato cake had a nice delicate crunch contrasting with the very soft potato centre. The catch of the day fish was meaty and moist with a neutral taste unlike the barramundi, and the soda batter on the fish was more thicker than the potato so it was super crunchy. Fish seemed big but one end was mostly batter. Chips were standard without the soda batter but was still enjoyable. Overall pretty good food with the unique crunchy soda batter but the batter does get quite greasy and heavy on the stomach towards the end. There was not much flavour from the soda batter itself so do get some condiments with the order.

One of the best fish and chip shops in Melbourne! Fish was battered and cooked perfectly. Potato cakes were nice and crispy one of the best! Definitely recommend

Recommended by a friend to try their potato cakes. It was well worth the visit. Best potato cakes in town! We also had the bug roll and prawn roll and a fish burger. All were excellent, particularly the bug roll. Friendly and efficient team. Will definitely be back!

Amazing food .... the potato cakes is amazing crispy on the outside and soft on the inside ... definitely a must try. The fish are so fresh that it melts in your mouth. Definitely worth driving 30 km to get it. I did an online order arrived 30 mins early and they were so accomodating to prepare my order immediately. And the owner / manager even ran out to my car as I was driving off - to give me my missed order. Thumbs up for that. Will be back soon and will be my go to place for fish n chips from now on.

Ordered 4 potatoes cakes and very happy to see an extra one thrown in - much appreciated!The potatoes cakes are the crunchiest which I've ever had and kept their crunch to the last bite of them all! Paired perfectly with a range of tomatoes sauce, soy sauce and vinegar at your discretion.Service is on the slower side and could have done with some more chicken salt/normal salt but overall, If you're after crunchy, flakey potatoes cakes look no further.

This place is amazing, fresh fish and calamari, the chips and tartare were really nice too. Friendly service, would definitely come back

Best local fish and chips shop serving hot and fresh battered fish & crispy golden chips.Got their gummy pack ($16) and look at how much chips there is! Was definitely very hard to finish the chips and I am a big eater. The fish on the other hand, needed another aquatic friend in the pack. Fish was a bit small, but damn was that SODA-battered crisp on fish a turn on. It is insane and wish I got 2 flakes instead of one.They added the right amount of salt to the fish and chips and I was left wanting to make a second order of their burgers and other fried seafood. The chips were insane and when a fish and chips shop knows how to keep their chips crispy for a long time, they’re guaranteed to last a lifetime. Would highly suggest chucking in their own 300 grams seasoning or chicken salt on the chips for that dopamine-releasing factor. Tartare sauce was DELISH, plenty of herbs and love how textural it was.Fish and chips during winter? Legal and should be encouraged by law. Scalable Fish-op is run by one of the best burger joints, 300 Grams and they definitely did not let me down with my high expectations.
