I had such a great time leaning the history of Sydney. Our guide Vickie was incredibly knowledgeable and obviously has a passion for the history of Sydney. So was also so incredibly kind and even showed me my way to the train. Such a sweet person. Definitely would recommend.

There is no better way to get up close and personal with the history and heritage of Sydney than joining one of The Rocks Walking Tours. This was such a memorable experience. During the 2 hours tour we were able to hear the history of Sydney as the group strolled the shoreline of Sydney Harbour with amazing views of the Sydney Opera House, the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Cadman’s Cottage.Vickie is the friendliest and most enthusiastic guide. She is so knowledgeable and passionate about the city. The tour departs from The Rocks Walking Tours’ Office which is conveniently located in the heart of The Rocks Clocktower Square. The Rocks Walking Tour was one of the highlights of my first day in Sydney.

Outstanding. Michael is very knowledgeable, entertaining and personable. You will experience an excellent balance of Indigenous and post settlement history, little known facts about the establishment of the colony and the personalities within, right up to the preservation of the character, architecture and geography of The Rocks. We did this tour 10 years ago and were so impressed, we went out of our way to do this with our children on our next holiday to Sydney.

Enjoyably educational!Took the whole family so my 10 yr old could learn about our history. We all learnt so much from our tour guide, Nickie. She really new her content and could answer the questions my son threw at her.We learnt about the real size of the first fleet ships, the way they made mortar from shells, details of specific people from the 1800s, and so much more!On our tour we even stopped at some great spots for photos of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge. It was definitely a worthwhile experience.

For a first time visitor, this is a wonderful introduction to Sydney and it's historical waterfront. Michael was a great teller of the story of how the area evolved from a rough and tumble working class area. About 2 hours long, it was an easy walk and an insightful start to our visit. There are plenty of cool places to photograph. Fun discovery of the walk was seeing fire suppression on the outside of many of the windows of a particular building. Highly recommended.

The Good: Lots of history in The Rocks and with a good guide you can learn a lot. They point out the historical markings, large and small, that you might otherwise walk right past and miss. The length is just right and makes a nice loop around the neighborhood. The Not So Good: My biggest complaint about all walking tours is that it's VERY difficult to hear the guide especially in busy areas. Why not invest in earphones or some kind of amplification system? After all, one of the biggest reasons we hire these tours is to hear what the guide has to say and if you can't hear them (especially those whose voice doesn't project in loud outdoor areas), then there goes a big chunk of the tour. And we get tired of being the one to constantly say, Can you repeat that

The tour guide was very knowledgeable and she went above and beyond, and gave us 30 mins extra to explain the history of The Rocks area. I can’t remember her name but she has been fantastic. Lucky it was only a small group as few people cancelled, it was an enjoyable experience if you like history and architecture.
