My son paid $950 up front which ended up only covering costs for 24 hours. Vet failed to call us as arranged after xray in afternoon. Was called at 8.30pm and told they needed more money in order to do surgery. We get there and were stung with an additional $656 in costs for extra xray and blood tests that weren t discussed with my son, and told that we needed to pay that and for the surgery. We applied for vetpay and unfortunately were unsuccessful. We pleaded to please be able to pay the surgery off as we had already exhausted our funds by paying over $1100 in less than 24 hrs. I also explained that we had had 2 deaths in the family this week and we really needed my sons Tilly dog to live and be ok. They said we either pay $2000 up front or take the dog to lort Smith which wasn't open at 10pm.. So we were left in tears to take his dog home to deteriorate again until we can contact lort Smith. They were more worried about the money than the wellbeing and life of my sons dog.And all of this in the middle of the pandemic when my sons finances and work is reduced. I am disgusted. Definitely no compassion unless the mighty dollars are in their pockets.
