Overnight, weekday stay during the winter months was adequate. For the price of the room, we were disappointed we were placed right near where renovations were being done, having to endure unpleasant noise from early morning. Would have expected to be placed further away from the construction area considering the abundance of rooms. The room was fitted as expected of a hotel of this calibre, but be warned as you'll need to bring your own dental amenities. Location of the hotel was good, close to very good dining options at the nearby Burbury hotel and near parliament house.

Its a sad thing when you visit somewhere a decade or so ago and when you return no ones bothered to clean the mould from the shower, the bar is now a wanky gym and the breakfasts are un affordable. But comfy beds, loads of room, top location, friendly staff and pretty cheap.Ok the photos not quite right.

This is an excellent hotel situated in a quiet leafy area. Only minutes to local shops in Kingston and Manuka and a stones throw from The back of Parliament House. The Brassey was built in the 1920's and is a stately building offering old charm ambience. It is being refurbished at present however that did not distract from our 4 night stay over Xmas. Our room was an upgrade and for under $100 a night was great value and comfort.Due to the Christmas break we were only able to have one continental breakfast which was beautifully presented and most appetising. The bed was honestly the best we have ever slept in. The room was large and extremely comfortable.Beautifully kept and very clean throughout. The staff and in particular Anna who we had the most contact with, was delightful. She was happy to share local attractions and places to eat and even genuinely showed interest in a photo album of our recent European holiday. Her bright and happy disposition was really appreciated. We hadn't been to Canberra in many years and was here to celebrate a special milestone. We loved every moment in our Capital city and are already planning on returning to The Brassey and Canberra in the not too far distant future.

I was there on Federal Government Budget night. The room for the night was over $300. Canberra was full that night so I no other choice. Everything was satisfactory & will stay again, but I'll pick a less auspicious occasion. Friendly, helpful staff @ reception.

This is the hotel where we usually stay when we visit Canberra. The rooms are clean and reasonably spacious. It has it's own restaurant. We often go for long walks when we stay here. No, unfortunately it's not in the middle of any shopping areas. But I like the quiet suburban atmosphere of the district.

Three star hotel for a four star price. NOT a historic hotel anymore.Dirty windows, drilling holes in bathroom tiles covered with a bin, noisy fan, no view through tiny windows that look onto the roof. The breakfast offered was a block away, NOT in the same hotel, but decent.Apparently used to be very elegant, now it's just a bland, mediocre, soulless hotel in a historic buildings shell.Very disappointing, especially for the price.Location is good though, and the staff are polite.

Great little hotel with excellent facilities. The gym was very spacious and well-equipped, and the spa area was also great. Staff were very friendly and capable. The room itself was more than adequate for a one night stay. The hotel itself is about 2 minutes from parliament and 10 from downtown Canberra by car. Would happily book there again.

This place has really comfortable beds. If you're looking for a good night's sleep, then this is the place to go to. The rooms are large and sunny, however there are some issues with maintenance. Our toilet didn't work properly. We had to take the lid of the cistern to get it to refill. There is no minibar in the room's fridge, which wasn't that clean to begin with. The gym is really well appointed; much better facilities than your usual hotel gym. If you want to have a workout during your stay, this place is ideal. They have two squat racks and bumper plates, as well as free weights and machines. The push bike hire station is a great addition too. We hired for 24 hours and rode all around the city. The staff were very friendly and approachable. Good location and good value for money.

We stayed at The Brassey from 15th -18th and were impressed from the start. Danni on reception welcomed us with a smile and gave us lots of information on the best ways to get to see all the venues in which we were interested, she told us about places to eat and couldn't have been more helpful. All the staff were friendly and helped to make our stay very pleasant. The room was perfect in every respect and we couldn't recommend the hotel highly enough.

A colonial style property at Barton suburb. I stayed here for the first time during my last visit to Canberra. I love the place for its old world charm. Staff are professional and the place is near city centre and has reasonable choice of good quality as well premium dining options. Breakfast is served in the opposite property, so be prepared for a good morning walk before you can taste your breakfast!!!
