O'Briens Hill
A true-blue goldmining history experience. Real underground pits and mining machinery, frozen in time. Well worth a look, you won't be disappointed. Totally free too.

O'Briens Hill
O'Briens Hill holds a unique part of gold mining history in N.S.W. The quarts reef at this location was quite rich giving up to 3 ounces of gold per ton of crushed ore. It was one of the deepest hard rock mines during its operation, meaning new and innovative methods were used here for deep ore extraction. The area has good walking paths that take you around the many things to see here.A good sized car park at the top of the hill with a well maintained toilet amenities building. A covered deck with picnic tables provides good views over the surrounding land. While the walk is only short in distance you will want to spend some time reading the many information signs explaining the mine and the history of the people that worked the mine and lived in the area. This is also the location of the Grenfell Endemic Garden. A small garden with native plants of the area.An interesting area that is well worth the time to see. No cost, all free.

Nice clean tables under shelter. Toilet facilities but not really a viewing area as town is mostly obscured.
