Really good training for everyone. From athletes to beginners.I’ve been there on and off since 2010 and I think everyone should know to defend themselves. It helps a lot with your mental health and confidence.Ortiz is one of the best for competition training. If you’re looking for a comp trainer or to just get fit and lose a few kilos i can’t recommend enough. As a Personal Trainer I’ve been to a lot of great gyms but Eddie and Thiago are the go to for me.It’s my second family.

Ortiz Martial Arts Academy is excellent. The brazilian jiu jitsu instructor has a sound understanding of how to relate brazilian jiu jitsu to every day defence situations, as well as offering Muay Thai and Mixed Martial arts to accompany this.Classes are offered every day, and based in Mona Vale, Sydney northern beaches, the location for me was ideal. I found everyone at the gym to be very helpful, and I have made a lot of new friends. The company is family run so you aren't treated like just another number coming through the door.I recommend anyone to come and try the brazilian jiu jitsu classes at Ortiz Martial Arts Academy, there are people of all different ages, females or male. They also have fitness classes aimed at core conditioning and weight loss which are really popular.They offer free trial classes too, so you have nothing to lose!

This is an amazing gym - been here around 3 years now and haven't looked back. I train mostly Brazillian Jiu Jitsu but their Self Defence and MMA classes are amazing as well. The culture is great - everyone is super welcoming and friendly! Eddie, Thiago and Rafa are amazing teachers and ensures safety and community comes first; haven't seen a single injury during the time I've been here. They have calsses for both kids and adults, would definitely recommend for any experience / age. They're also doing a special at the moment with free membership for the first month!

There are plenty of Jiu Jitsu schools on the beaches, but only one has Edson Ortiz. A great instructor and role model who has not only produced world champions, but changed the lives of many of his students, including me. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, and the Jiu Jitsu is world class.

Amazing school. Edson and Thiago are fantastic teachers with a wealth of skill and knowledge and a really approachable teaching style both for adults and kids - both of my kids and I train here and are extremely happy. The school has an excellent culture at all levels and I'm proud to be involved.

Could not recommend this family run Jiu-jitsu enough.My son has been attending now 3-6 days a week for a year and he absolutely loves it.He truly looks up to the teachers and has gained a great dealOf confidence and education.The Ortiz family are the Best in the business.

Ortiz martial arts is a great academy, and if you're old enough there's a great sense of community.I've been there for 2 and a half years now, no regrets.
