While we haven't worked together (yet!) Passive Edge Homes were great in answering our questions and provided some good insights into renovation and extension costs. They were also upfront about some of the potential hurdles and the options we have for achieving our dream of a high performing, energy efficient sustainable home. They know their stuff.

From our initial meeting with Dave Maurer of Passive Edge Homes we knew Dave was the person we wanted to build our sustainable home. We felt at ease and confident that his knowledge, skills and project management would see our dream become a reality.Throughout the build Dave consulted with us at every critical point and we valued his advice and guidance as we collaborated over the finer points. Dave achieved an outcome that was beyond our expectations, with his experienced eye overseeing every stage.Nothing was impossible. The amount of work that he did behind the scenes to source the right materials was greatly appreciated. For example, Dave spent a whole day driving all around Melbourne to locate the exact, coloured timber panels to finish our ceiling. Dave also managed to surprise us by securing better deals from suppliers with upscaled products, which we greatly appreciated.The result is we now have a beautiful, energy-efficient and well-crafted home that was built with great skill and care. Rarely a day goes by that passers-by don’t stop to admire our home and tell us how beautiful it looks. As a family, we still can’t believe that this is our home. I was in the early/mid stages of having a new home designed under the Passivhaus umbrella (the type certified by the authorities in Germany with very strict air tightness, etc controls). I knew I needed to find a professional who could build to this high standard and also meet my personal requirements of excellent craftsmanship (I grew up surrounded by the building industry). Out of coincidence, Dave from Passive Edge Homes, was halfway through a new build around the corner from us. So, I introduced myself and he was happy to show me around and discuss our project. My architect had also been talking about the PAC process, so I engaged (paid) Dave to provide a very accurate but preliminary price before we got too far into the detailed/construction documentation. I already knew we were being ambitious with our wish list, but with covid's impact on material prices as well, it brought us back to earth. To cut a long story short, I have reduced the size and complexity of the original design and are far happier with where it is heading, thanks to Dave's guidance. While it is a more modest build, these budget restrictions have forced us to be more creative in how we use spaces and materials. I would highly recommend this process to anyone, if budgets are tightish as ours was to get your builder on board as soon as possible to work with you throughout the design phase as this is your best chance at getting to site sooner and not fall in love with a design that you simply cannot afford to build! Dave met with my husband and I after sending him our concept plans. With no commitment or charge, he spent over an hour with us, and right off the bat, was honest and transparent with his advice, which helped us reframe our budget expectations. Our designer had come up with a beautiful concept, but it was Dave who walked us through the financial implications. He even gave us some advice regarding our current home - all at no charge. Wonderful experience, and we'll definitely be asking Dave to tender for our build.

Passive Edge Homes did an excellent job on renovation of a building built in 1890s with total cleaning of unique cast iron lacework verandah and novel flooring. All work was done to budget and done to time. I was most impressed with the detail of the work and the accuracy of the work done.
