Below average! I felt as though I was just passed around to the next available therapist rather than looking at me as an individual.Enrolment notes obviously weren’t read so no basic knowledge of why I was there. This was frustrating as I waited six months to get in to see someone.Expensive and no follow up care.

Finally, a place where I felt safe, accepted and cared for. Highly recommend Birchtree Centre, Jace is caring, intelligent and warm - everything you would want in a therapist. The extra services for Yoga and Art also provide a more holistic experience for your mind & body.

Absolutely amazing.I came here when my dad died and my worst childhood trauma was finally emerging. At 18 years clean and sober I might have relapsed or worse if I hadnt had such incredible support.Birchtree is unlike anywhere Im aware of.As someone who has over 22 years in 12 step recovery and been to multiple rehabs, hospitals and psych units, with many friends who either use or work in these areas, I have just not heard of anywhere else with a trauma based focus for healing. Which seems crazy seeing what I understand now... That trauma underlies most mental health and addiction issues.Sophie took me on straight away and the Qs I asked her were:Are you feministAre you queer friendlyAre you supportive of 12 stepHer response was, Im sorry we live in a world where you have to ask that."Ive been seeing her once a week for over 5 years and once a fortnight for this past year.Having support to create healthy boundaries with my family

I had a terrible experience at the Birchtree Centre. I arrived for my first appointment feeling really terrified after trying to process trauma in a private clinic with staff who had no idea what they were doing. I just needed compassionate support The therapist they gave me showed no empathy at all, had a blank, straight face despite me being in terror and gave nothing of herself. She sat there in silence and did not offer any genuine compassion or warmth. I left the appointment and let the psychologist know that I was not in any danger and paid her via internet banking. Her main concern was that I had left without paying, rather than how I was. The yoga therapist was fortunately caring and helpful. Thank god for her.The most terrible part was the treatment I received by the director, Jace. She refused to let me make an appointment with a different therapist at the centre and then also refused to let the yoga therapist see me on the premises! despite her being happy to work with me and stating that she didn't understand the directors decision. Jace would not discuss her decision with me and treated me like toxic waste! She did not refer me to other supports. It caused me a great deal of shame and anger at a time when I needed compassion and empathy. I hadn't done anything wrong. I was Just frightened! This is disgusting behaviour from a supposed 'centre of excellence for trauma' that ironically has no idea how to treat trauma and by way of rejection, lack of empathy and lack of expertise, end up causing further trauma. Shame on them. In reply to their response....they are more than capable of addressing my needs. I just needed an empathetic therapist. Not the one they gave me. This is an all too common case of traumatised people ill advisedly becoming therapists and hurting others.

Would not recommend this place, overpriced and the content for there Trauma support group ,you can get off YouTube/Google . Very simple education , from someone that has done DBT, CBT,Schema and Act and have done the clinical Side of Act, Motivation Interviewing . There are alot more groups that are beneficial . RPA and Hills Clinic . If you like to pay Ludacris amount of $ for talk based groups/ thearpy plus the simple clinical notes the educators provide then go for it .The rule around having your camera is another winge on my front. This place is full of hype . I found it wasn't for me .

Was very badly retraumatised as a result of this place. After things didn't work out with the first therapist I was assigned here, and I was offered to be put back on their wait list (which I reconfirmed had been successful) I called the other day to learn I had never been put on any of their wait lists. And that they didn't have availability to take me on, even though I had been told I was on the wait-list and had been waiting now for 2 months... It has shattered my trust in them, and further cemented my traumas around people in positions of power. The previous therapist's opinion that I wouldn't benefit from individual therapy was the only voice heard and listened to by management. There was no attempt to hear from me. They simply don't care. I have been left feeling further disempowered, this from a place preaching trauma informed practice. so much trust lost. It's easy for them to lie to you then say that's it's you not them, and put you in the too hard basket. Horrible horrible horrible, retraumatising place.

Posting this review on behalf of my partner Ms Lin who has been treated by Tanuza Rahman. We also feel like we were just passed on to whoever is available rather than suggesting a good psychologist based on what the patient needs as mentioned by some other reviews. She made my partner feel like very disliked in their conversation and not welcomed, which is definitely not a proper thing for a psychologist to do.

Lovely little kitchenette to make tea while you wait for your appointment. All the staff are respectful and it is quiet enough during sessions.

I went to a course to learn about how trauma affects the brain and body here. It was super informative, engaging, professional and trauma informed. I have no hesitation in recommending this service.
