The village of Bethany was the first settlement in the Barossa, in 1842, in the hills outside Tanunda, and in 1844 the Schrapel family arrived, firstly establishing the quarry that supplied all the building rock for the homes and then developed vineyards. They now produce wines off 110 acres, with the first vines dating back to 1852.My pick was the 2021 Chardie, a lighter style with great fruit character. Their Rose is interesting blended from Cinsault, Grenache, (45%) Mataro, and 8% reisling. A good dry style with a fruit salad of flavors in the mouth. There are 2 main labels, First Village & Blue Quarry ( where the winery is built)The range of Reserve wines includes a 2012 Reisling which was dry, well balanced and can probably go another 4 ~5 years.#travelsouthaustralia#winetasting#barossavalley#rareozzies#wineandfood#travelaustralia#WineCountry

An intimate wine tasting experience backed up by some of the best wines in Australia. The fact that Bethany has maintained their small winery feel while producing sensational wines over many years is inspiring. No wonder I keep going back when I visit the region. The cellar door staff are absolutely amazing as well.

Johanna was so lovely to talk to about wine and what we liked and taught us about Bethany Wine history. Such a nice place and the view is to die for.

Don’t go!! Wines ok but they charge you for tasting even if you buy wine. Come up and take a photo and just leave. So many better places.

What a lovely little winery! We had the Blue Quarry tasting and paired it with the cheese platter. The staff was super accommodating and they provided me with gluten free alternatives for the cheese platter. The wines were delicious and the atmosphere was very warm and welcoming. Overall we had a great experience
