Taradale Railway Viaduct
A nice little stop on the way between Melbourne & Bendigo. The Taradale Viaduct is a large wrought iron box girder bridge in Taradale, Victoria on the Bendigo Railway. It was erected as part of the Melbourne, Mount Alexander and Murray River Railway between 1858 and 1861.

Amazing structure and great place for photos! This large wrought iron box girder bridge was erected as part of the Melbourne, Mount Alexander and Murray River Railway between 1858 and 1861, and was at the time one of the largest rail bridges built in Australia!

Beautiful little area of Victoria and a true marvel of old time engineering to span the valley.

An amazing piece of railway architecture still used today by V/Line trains on the Bendigo line.

Simply beautiful engineering well worth a visit. The land around it also very beautiful, the property below the bridge had a couple of friendly horses.

It is a nice structure to look at, but it ends there. Nothing else to do. It has been renovated with a new facade. Good if you want to check a bit of history in the area.

Decided to get off the highway and take the old Calder in an effort to revisit the countryside and towns I knew in the 1960s and 70s. Taradale Railway Viaduct was the prize of my drive down memory lane.Make it yours and support our country towns.Cheers Ken
