I debated leaving a review but I feel this might help other queer POC.I had two issues:1. The admin are not the best. They didn’t check my intake forms for my updated number and contacted my old cell and left no email. They also told me I needed a GP referral which I didn’t, my counselor’s referral was enough. I ended up going to my GP for a referral which wasn’t needed.2. I am a queer POC. The psychologist I saw for my neurodiversity assessment didn’t understand much about ex Muslims or queer persecutions in my country. She knew beforehand I am queer since my referral was from a queer specific service and she knew I was South Asian. I gave her abit of background about my religion and culture but she wouldn’t take my word that I would be unsafe if I was outed back home. She repeatedly asked for specifics on how I would be unsafe. I had to give very triggering details that honestly she could have googled before seeing me. She knew where I was from, she could have just googled and found even a Wikipedia page on lgbt rights in my country. The psychologist did apologise to me but said she needed specifics for context. I was already giving her alot of context ( I explained how Muslims pray etc) and was educating her but she specifically wanted to know about how I would be persecuted. It was a case of why google beforehand about well known issues in the LGBT community when you can just ask the client instead.I had a assessment for ADHD from a separate psychiatrist and even though we discussed my childhood, the questions were nowhere near as pointed. As a POC I can feel the difference when I talk to a professional who is aware of lgbt issues faced by non white people.

I have been seeing Belinda Birtles for around two years now and highly praise her care and the staff at Brisbane Southside Psychology. The environment fostered is professional, genuine and amicable - I could not ask for a better psychologist!
