Was very lucky to need a spot to stay for the night near Ararat and happened to stop here - we were the only people in the camping area. It's a beautiful Gumtree forest with plenty of camping spots, campfire pits, and picnic tables. There are toilets as well but I didn't venture into them.Great spot!!

Great little free camping spot and only campers there. Very tidy, good fire places and picnic tables. Dirt road in was in good order and no issues for our van.

Plenty of room for caravans, quiet and peaceful. Fire pits with hotplates. Reservoir is very interesting

Excellent spot! Great walks with hills and rocks to climb but moss is slippery! Freezing cold in July. Only saw one wallaby but there must be plenty around according to the quantity of droppings. Sad that ppl go there to drink themselves stupid as I found bottles and cans high up the hill.

This is a hidden gem, 3-4 KMs off the Western Hwy (pronounced Lar-ne-jeering, apparently!). The campsite is quiet, spacious and offers quite a bit of shade, there are male and female drop toilets and fireplaces. The walk up to the old reservoir is lovely, probably 25-30 minutes each way and worth the effort. This would make a good stop on the journey between Adelaide and Melbourne or v.v., if you are self-sufficient and don't need more than toilet facilities. It is far enough off the Western Highway to be undisturbed by passing traffic (about 4 kms down a dust track, but fine for 2WD up to the camp ground)

I really enjoyed camping here though I was concerned when someone drove through quite fast with the big kangaroo hunting spotlight on this is a Conservation Park not saying anyone was hunting but it just didn't feel right

Camped here for one night and we loved it. Plenty of space for people to choose a camp site, long drop toilets and picnic tables. Will be going back again

This is a beautiful picnic spot and quite popular.Walked up to the reservoir and turned back, the path was slippery after the rains. We saw people walking in galoshes.There is one road in. It looks OK from a distance but it is the worst road we drove during our driving holiday in Victoria. It is worth the effort, just fasten your load.
