Bluff Hut

Great hut for overnight trekkers or just a stop over for The Bluff summit. You can stay in the hut or camp in front of the hut. The road to the Bluff hut is quite rough, 4WD only.Great starting point for the Bluff summit. Only around 4km 1 way. We took around 3.5 hours to do the summit round way including resting time and taking photos. Quite easy walk, lots of flat walking only so suitable for new trekkers too. We had 2 people in our team who did the trekking for the first time and they were fine. Ensure you follow the walking path.If you dont have 4WD to get the Bluff hut for the bluff summit, it would be much longer track 16-18km from the bottom. Save lots of time if you can start from here. I met people starting the summit from Richie hut from 8am, reached there around 4pm on the top of the summit and they need to carry camping gear too as no time for round trip back to the starting point. So huge time saver and easier walk if you can start the summit from the Bluff hut.

My family have been there many times. The facility and view are fantastic. The staff were awful when the last time we were there. They didn't allow us to go to the carpark near the village and lied they were all full. So the only option was to take their Taxi, which was about $120 for 3 minutes drive. I refused and dropped off my family at the village and drove back. On the way back, I saw three big carparks with only tens of cars parking there, and I took photos of the carpark while one of the guys followed me and kept evicting me.

It's so nice to visit some of this countries iconic history. You get a real sense of what it must have been like in its time.

Great hut. Be careful of the fire though, the smoke can and will fill the hut if you aren't careful. Also gets pretty cold at night, so be ready for that. Great views and will keep you dry!

Great spot to spend Christmas day, had the place to myself all day till some hikers from Canberra arrived later in the day. I believe it's usually pretty busy at the hut, with 4wders & hikers, so was nice to be so quiet.
