Amazing salon experience. Best salon in fitzroy. I had a great e hair cut ever. highly recommended.

Have been getting my hair cut and coloured at Miss Gertrude for many years by Jens and he is an absolute gem. I often joke that I don't need to get my hair cut that often given my hair still looks so great even after 3 months, so that is testament to his skills. They also introduced me recently to K18 leave in hair treatment and my hair has not felt better since I started colouring it decades ago.

Absolutely amazing!!! Nuwee was incredible and her trainee colourist. The girls fully understood what I wanted. I will be back for sure. Thank you again ladies you were incredible ⭐️

I've tried multiple places to perm my hair and the last hairdresser did a great job but said my hair was very difficult to perm.That being said at Miss Gertrude's I received the most beautiful perm (with the least damage) i've ever had. I have had so many compliments and people think my new curly hair is my natural state of being (I have very fine, silky straight hair).It is very pricey but you get what you pay for.The staff are all very friendly and I would go back againThank you to Jens and the rest of the team at Miss Gertrude!

This salon has such good reviews, I was surprised at the poor experience I had.Maybe they’re experts at curly hair, but as someone with fine, damaged hair, I left feeling like my hair was in worse condition when I left, with a colour I was not happy with.The stylist I had my consultation with had left between then and my appointment, leaving me with a junior stylist. The salon didn’t bother to inform me of this until I happened to enquire about adding a haircut to my appointment. At that point, it was too late to find anywhere else.At my appointment, I expressly mentioned to the stylist that I’d experienced hair loss in the last couple of years, and expected them to treat it gently. Instead, I got an extremely rough hair wash from their trainee, who was washing it as if he was racing against a 30 second timer, not to mention raking a non-detangling brush through my freshly bleached hair without any conditioning spray afterwards. The stylist was not much better, using a hairdryer on the hottest heat setting which actively felt like it was burning my scalp. My hair was so frizzy and crispy when I left. I had to wash it straight away and apply a deep conditioning treatment.I also wasn’t impressed by their colour services. The foils and toner were inexpertly applied, leaving the top and bottom of my hair two completely different tones, with a super muddy appearance. I felt like they’d not listened at all when I explained what I wanted, and were actively condescending when I’d queried if they’d understood the brief.Thanks, I hate it. Going to another salon for a colour correction and hopefully better service. There’s $350 down the drain.

Love this salon! I have been going for years. All the stylists are incredible. It doesn't matter who does your hair - everyone is amazing. What's more many of the staff are readers of books, while that may not seem to be an important at a hair salon, it says so much about this salon's approach . . . intelligent stylists who pride themselves on their craft in a low key and welcoming/inclusive atmosphere.
