OLTRE ALIMENTARI E CUCINA | Oltre is part of the historic Prahran Market, the oldest market in Australia. Serving the best Italian traditional recipes, all made in house, using the freshest seasonal produce and hand-sourced ingredients in a laidback setting. Fresh pasta and gnocchi are made in the front window daily. They are also providing the neighbourhood with the best Italian coffee and a selection of Italian wines.

What an outstanding little cafe. Like we’re not spoilt for choice of good food at Prahran Markets as it is, this cafe delivers the best breakfast and coffee, and had us returning everyday of our holiday. Thank you for the various delicious dishes and pastries, and for the beautiful Italian service. Grazie!

Absolutely brilliant food and coffee with friendly attentive service. We had their delicious ragu tagliatelle pasta after we stopped in for lunch whilst in South Yarra by chance. I highly recommend visiting if you’re looking for good Italian food or just a coffee. You will not be disappointed.

Tiny Italian cafe beside Prahran market, authentic place, rustic decor.The staff is a plus, friendly and proud of their origin.For myself I can imagine la mama in the kitchen who prepare those delicious lasagna, the charcuterie plate was great too with delicious sourdough bread “I can have more”. Short travel to little Italia.Now I have to try more. A presto!

A great little Italian restaurant as an adjunct to the Prahran Markets. Serves a variety of pastas, panini & Italian food & great coffee & Italian desserts the apricot tart with coffee being my favourite but then again the croissants were excellent too.

Just came back from Italy and this place is hands down the closest thing I can find to it. Pasta, panini and Wagyu bresaola are hard to go past, but loving their breakfast options too, particularly the frittata. Delicious home made treats for desert too.

Went to Oltre for lunch while visiting Melbourne but felt more like I was visiting a small town outside of Rome!This was actually me coming back, had a great experience the first time so I returned. And they did not let me down. Owners and staff were so passionate, so friendly and so fun, just like before. Happy to teach Italian and about Italian culture when I asked.Coffee hit the right spot and the food era delizioso (they are good teachers)! Had mixed cuts, zucchini salad and homemade pasta this time. Very honest Italian food, nothing superfluous. For dessert I had a tiramisu like none I've had before. It was deconstructed with espresso poured straight from the machine. Special stuff. Per favore ask for this must-eat delight!Stuck around for a nice chat with owners Sal and Sam over a Montenegro. Sadly I gotta go soon, but for sure, next I'm in Melbourne, I'm in Oltre.

This Italian restaurant is an absolute gem. Their freshly made pasta dishes are amazing with well-balanced flavours and their coffees are strong yet wonderful. A must-try while you're at Prahran; I already know that I will be back for more of their food and espressos even though I live across the other side of Victoria.
