1837 Barossa
Over the last few months, I visited many wineries and cellardoors throughout South Australia. Many of them are excellent and gave me great wine experience. However, the most memorable was the 1837 Barossa in Lyndoch, near Adelaide. The beauty of the location of 1837 Barossa was mesmerizing. It is one place where history, art and wine are intertwined inseparably. Little did I realize that Col William Lights, the architect of Adelaide City had come to this very same spot 186 years ago and viewed the very same landscape that I was viewing there the other day! Little had changed over the centuries from the hand sketch of the scenery that he saw then, which was on display on the art trail.  It is a place where time has frozen!  The 1837 Barossa has a beautiful art trail with interesting sculptures where one can take a leisurely walk,  a restaurant and a well-appointed wine pavilion. The wines are extremely well-balanced and of high quality.  The name of each of the 1987 Barossa wines is linked with the life and events of Col William Light! Interesting!! I have no hesitation in recommending the 1837 Barossa to any visitor to Adelaide, the wine capital of Australia. It is only less than an hour's drive from the City of Adelaide.

Absolutely sensational. Do not miss out on this special experience. We did the 4 courses and it did not disappoint. The food was magnificent and plenty of it. The service was friendly and even the chef came out to say hello. We will definitely return.

We had such a lovely experience at 1837 winery. We opted for the intimate wine tasting and chocolate pairing experience which was absolutely amazing. Our host, Varun, was incredible, he greeted us at the entrance of the Estate and guided us through our whole journey from start to finish showcasing the amazing art and history before, during and after our tasting. Couldn’t recommend enough! Thank you Varun!

Great venue, a must do for anyone visiting the barossa. Heaps of photos opps for your insta. Exceptional food, easily worth the money, circa $100 for 4 courses with wine pairing. Anyone who doesn't think the food is top notch and the value is good should stick to eating at their local pub. I wouldn't take my kids here though, vineyards aren't made for kids anyways - leave them with the babysitter and enjoy a day off, you'll both have a better time.

Great venue and great place. Unfortunately the food did not match the pricing. We were not allowed to sit outside, considering we have a 1 year old and a 3 year old and then we got into trouble that they were touching the mirror. It was loud and cramped. Such a beautiful location but all cramed into a little space considering the outdoor area is stunning.

This is the cleanest place I have ever visited whoever is the cleaner here does a marvellous job never let him go. Actually that is a bit sexist it could be a woman who cleans, and the experience as a whole was one of the most relaxing and enjoyable i and my wife have experienced, and we have travelled the world and over 40 wineries across France and many more just don't have a chance of getting an experience as well as hear. All staff members are professional and courteous to all who visit here. I find it hard to fault this picturesque and friendly place for the fastidious tourist to visit year round.

Beautiful estate with amazing views and lots of photo opportunities. The wine was beautiful but the meals in the restaurant were underwhelming, particularly the chocolate brownie which was so dry!
