Stopped by for dinner and we had chicken schnitzel with salad and Atlantic salmon and salad. The schnitty had a nice flavour but was a bit dry. The salad was OK, but nothing to write home about. On the other hand the salmon was great and the accompanying salad was exceptional. The Angullong Shiraz from Millthorpe was also very good

Ordered a steak with chips and mash, the person misheard me and put chips and salad - it was brought out, I looked confused and said I didn’t order salad (I don’t eat it, so I would know), and instead of apologising for the misunderstanding, she went to get the person’s order docket to show that I ordered salad rather than thinking he might have misheard. I just took the meal and gave the salad to someone else. The steak was dry and overcooked (from medium rare to well cooked), but seeing as the salad caused drama, I didn’t want to complain a second time or waste the food so ate it.The chips and mushroom sauce were delicious.

Railway Hotel was recommended when staying in Cowra. We went for dinner unfortunately had only 50% success. The braised lamb shank that my partner had was perfection. I ordered scotch steak with chips, ask for medium. Got very dry, very dead piece of meat. Eventhough the mushroom sauce was delicious, it didn't save the dish. Chips and salad were ok.Huge meal size for the price, quality could be better for the steak.

I highly recommend that you asked to see the docket if you want anything changed from the menu, as staff refuse to do anything about it.Worse dinner, paid $35 for a steak, asked for veggies got salad, asked for gravy on the side over meat. Asked for medium rare more rare it was more medium, when I said something, no apologies just that’s what the docket said, I said that isn’t what I told them. As it was after 8 pm as they were busy they couldn’t care less just want to go home no trying to rectify it or anything. Decided to splurge for a night out, biggest waste of money. Even the garlic bread was burnt but I overlooked that. The dogs liked the steak at least expensive meal for them.Wouldn’t go here again.

We stayed over night in Cowra at the Allana Motel - just over the road. While the Railway was not serving dinner the night we looked in they did allow us to sit in the outside area with the dog and bring our own food. We naturally bought our beers and wine from the pub. Very welcoming and a great young bloke behind the bar. Looks a top stop for a meal - lunch or dinner.

We were recommended to eat here by the motel. Not disappointed. Food amazing. Very happy with our meals. Huge servings. Only one fault couldn't eat it all. Thumbs up to the person serving run off her feet nothing was a problem.

A typical, lovely, rustic country pub. I came here for a nightcap after going out elsewhere for dinner with some workmates, after all the other pubs and clubs shut at 9pm.Both the local customers and the young male bartender were very friendly, and the bartender even chatted with us and filled us in on a bit of history about the town. I will be back next time I'm in town!!
