I have 50-year-old wooden bay sash windows. They were very rotten with large areas of spongy wood. They had been repaired a few times over the last 20 years. Tradesman always did a ‘bog and paint’ solution which then failed after a few years. I was facing a huge bill to completely replace the rotten windows. Thank goodness I found Dylan from Retro Windows. I only wish I had found him years ago! Dylan painstakingly cut out and custom re-built each little piece of wood until the entire window was as good as new. He also fitted Colourbond to help protect the new wood from future water damage. In addition to the wood rot, he fixed the windows that were not moving up and down properly. He has done a beautiful job! The windows work and look absolutely fantastic. Dylan is a specialty repairer of original, character home timber framed windows in Sydney, and as he says, there’s plenty of those! A niche “master craftsman” dealing with break down and wood rot from water damage, his repairs allowed me to maintain the original features and honour the heritage of the property.
