Our go to beach in the area! The river meets the ocean in a spectacular way. The river water is warm with ocean sounds in the background. Theres adequate areas to setup for the day and some natural activities for the kids including playing in shallow river water and skiing down the sand dunes.Watch out for those blow flies.

Powlett River Holiday Park
We visited with a group of friends, Rob and Carol could not have been more welcoming. The park is like stepping back into a more relaxed time, where kids can play on acres of green grass, and you are spoilt for choice of things to do; fishing, swimming, kayaking or cycling on the nearby rail trails, as well as walks along the river or ocean beach, through tea-tree glades or you can explore the acres of bushland walking tracks at the back of the park that take you all the way to and around the desalination plant. On top of all that, it is a photographers paradise. You feel like you are a million miles from anywhere, yet it is only a short drive to Wonthaggi for supplies or the Killy Pub for dinner. Amenities are older but spotlessly clean and we can't wait to stay again soon.

We read the reviews but decided to check it out for ourselves. Great communication prior to arrival, it's under new management, and they are doing their best to bring the park out of its slump. The park itself is awesome, very natural, feels like you are a million miles from any where.Heaps of showers, old but clean, the new managers where a delight. Their family was all their to help and support them over the busy Christmas period. We would definatly stay again.Dog friendly.Cyclist friendly.Kid friendly.A super friendly family park.

Nice grassed sites, some with power and water. Reasonable prices even on a long weekend. Clean showers and toilets and dump points are available. A short trek through the bush to access the river mouth and ocean beach

Beautifully maintained open spaces with lots of room to move, great for kids and dogs too. Easy access to the river mouth for strolls, kayaking etc. Facilities basic but spotlessly clean.

My family has been coming here for almost 30 years now, long before I was born, it’s a great caravan park with so many great memories from my early childhood and in recent years. Great natural playground in the caravan park, awesome to ride bikes around. Sand Dunes and River are also really great for kids and adults alike. Overall a great caravan park and would recommend to those looking for a quiet peaceful stay.

This is an perfect place for a short getaway or family holiday. It is a very clean well maintained park, 1 minute walk down to the water where you can swim, fish, paddle board, kiake ride the huge sand dunes or just relax. Plenty of space for kids on the bikes, kick the footy, RC cars and socialise with other children. It's a short drive if you need supplies to Wonthaggi. If you want to go out for lunch/dinner the Kilcunda Pub is a perfect stop.

This was our second time back, this time staying 7 days and we loved it just as much. We got there on a Saturday and it was quite busy and a bit noisy, but Sunday when most people packed up, ahhh, the peace & quiet was bliss. Well besides the roaring of the Southern Ocean just up behind the dunes! Those noises are absolutely epic, we really thought there was thunder a couple of times. The birdlife, the hills and exploring through the Teatree forests are really beautiful. The river has closed off from the ocean since our last trip, so the river beaches are much smaller now which was sad and the river seems to be salt instead of the lovely fresh water previously, but still lovely to swim in and walk along. A bonus to this however is now you can get to the dunes without traversing the river which was a nice adventure. We'd like to say a massive thank you to Rob, Carol and to Rob's brother John & his wife who were there for the first few days as Rob & Carol were themselves on holidays when we arrived, for their help & kindness... We had engine troubles on our way down to Powlett River, thankfully we made it but didn't know how we were going to get home... Long story short, with their help, advice and offers from their family, we got home safely and it was just so nice to feel their support and kindness, it took away some of the anxiety we had.We can’t wait to come back! (Especially our pup Kobe who discovered she actually loves swimming after 8 years haha.)

Powlett River Holiday Park
Great camping area, not too crowded with clean toilet block. Dog friendly also. At the end of the camp ground explore through the tea trees to find hidden trinkets and little statues/figurines. Very amusing.
