Smythesdale Gardens

Great spot to Camp, recharge and unwind for Easter long weekend. Toilets, showers(with code), camp kitchen, playground all managed by volunteers so a donation for stay is recommended. Lovely walking paths and rail trail. Close walk town too. Peaceful spot but dogs are allowed here so be mindful of their barking. Not far from Ballarat. Great little market in Smythsdale on 2nd Saturday.

Lovely, large open space for plenty of vans. Toilets are decent and the town very nice to spend time in. Cannot fault it.

Great camping spot. Found it on WikiCamps. Can thoroughly recommend this spot. Especially those wishing to explore Ballarat. A great playground for the kids, grassed areas with table and chairs. Wooden sculptures abound the gardens, adding interest. Just a really nice spot. Hot showers provided, but, you will need to ring up and get a passcode to get use the showers.Just remember this camp spot is maintained by the local community and volunteers. They have provided a great amenity for us travellers. It’s does cost money to maintain these services and provide power and gas etc. The community asks that you leave a donation to cover these costs. I recommend anyone staying there ensure they leave a donation. It is easy to stop and move on without paying. Envelopes for donations can be found on the site and donations left at the Post Office.I ended up buying some groceries at the local supermarket and some takeaway fish and chips. Locals were very friendly. Well done Smythesdale.

Great setting, plenty of room. Toilets & showers horrible & smelly. Dirty, smelly mop to clean showers with. Think twice if you're needing amenities.

Great camping area with clean toilet and shower facilities for a donation. You need to get a code for opening the doors. Therefore you have to call a number shown on the information board (or see my photo). A lot of space for big and small vehicles. Nice area and playground for kids. Picnic tables and water available too.

Wonderful place to stay. Toilets avalible to all and showers accessible via calling number and getting the code for door. Plenty of room to camp. Fire pits available (not many so bring above ground fireplace if required) lots of tables for use during day for lunch. Has an undercover kitchen with fireplace. Small play ground for kids and also a sand pit. Place is run by a local group, donation envelopes should be on side of main building- otherwise please call number - a guy that works maintaining place lives just across the way and can bring over some more. Envelopes can be left at post office or at service station. Please donate as the volunteers do a wonderful job at providing this lovely camp site.

Wonderful. Great camping. Low cost

Beautiful quiet space surrounded by farmlands small playground shower and toilets. Very clean and well maintained by the volunteers. We will definitely be back again very soon
