The Basin Campground
Nice place to camp for free, easy Bush walk follow the great northern walk sign until you come to another sign that points to basin and it loops back to camp site . There is a creek the water was stagnate we did not swim in it there were no other people there when we went.

Hidden deep in the Olney State Forest this basic campground is located about 5km off the sealed road and can be reached with 2WD car.It’s natural features include a creek suitable for swimming and some walking tracks. The campgrounds are basic but include a couple of drop toilets, fire places and flat areas to erect tents without risk of falling tree limbs.Suitable for campers whom like dirt bikes, mountain bikes, have a dog or just want a quiet place away from the holiday bustle. Just up the road is the picturesque Mangrove Creek Dam, road side cafes or a little further supermarkets in Morisett and the coast for a day at the beach

Great spot when it's not busy. Has fireflies at the right time of the year. You can swim.

Good camping ground, relatively quiet. 3 good specific camping spots. Plenty of grass for kids to play on.If in a 4wd you can camp a bit further away from the road in a more secluded spot.Recommended to bring your own wood as everything is wet all the time.Some nice walking tracks as well

Nice site for the most part.Though, if you’re not a fan of leaches you might want to pick another one. Place is crawling with them.Wasn’t much bird life too to my surprise, perhaps the fact that it’s a dog friendly campground keeps them away? I’m not sure.

Great place to camp, just be careful of the speed hump at the entrance and the leeches, a sheltered area with no phone service, check out the bush turkey and the goannas and the wrens, has a long drop toilet don't forget your toilet paper

Was very clean and tidy. Peaceful and serene. No riff raff to contend with either. Well worth the trip there.

The Basin Campground
Nice little spot at the bottom of a gully, some grassed camping areas with good solid fire-pits, some other camp sites in among the trees, two long-drop toilets, a covered picnic table and a few others out in the open. No mobile phone coverage. This is a popular spot on the weekends for the off-road bike riders, so expect some noisy bikes going past from time to time. There is a running creek that has brown water, probably fine for swimming in summer, but not great for drinking.
