A little part of historical insight into housing in the early years found behind the terrace shops at The Rocks.Looks a little sad today but would be a neat little place for a little picnic or a place to read or paint.Lots of steps, easy to access but not for wheelchairs.

I walked up the stairs beside the restored foundations of seven original small terraces with metal furniture pieces in the various rooms and architectural recreations of walls and roof lines and wondered - What is this? There was no sign with any description and it wasn't even on Google Maps. Turns out, it's a hidden gem depicting more of The Rocks early history just waiting to be found - go explore it and sit on the furniture in the tiny rooms and imagine living there, way back then.

Gem of history in The Rocks! Enter from either the Gloucester Walk or from Playfair St. From Playfair Street, you'll need to go down a little laneway in the arcade, which is a little wow experience!8 terrace homes used to be here, but they were demolished in the 1930's. The area used to be a slum, and much was demolished during various plagues and redevelopment projects. For more, check out Susanna's Place and the big dig behind it!The fake furniture they put in these foundations is oddly oversized, but you can imagine living in these cramped spots on a steep hill with toilet and bathing facilities in the outside communal area.A great stopping point between George Street and the Bridge Steps, to either go over the Harbour Bridge or through to Observatory Hill.
