Jervis Bay Brewing Co. has all the charm of an island bar without the sand and lapping waves. It’s a cleverly designed compound in Huskisson’s light industrial area. Like island bars, expect to find plenty of repurposed materials, from beer keg tables to palms potted in sawn-off wine barrels, malt bag wallpaper and a fence-paling bar. The corrugated iron shed brewery is softened by trailing greenery. Outdoors there’s cushioned seating in the shade. It all adds up to an inviting place to kick back and sink a few. So we did, across a sampler paddle of four beers ($18) and a glass of the gently acidic pineapple sour ($6.50). We also tried a heavily hopped Sweet-Az NZ lager, the crisp and nutty Point Perp. pilsner and a hazy pale ale called Summercloud that won me with pretty hops and tropical fruit notes: the right beer for a hot, coastal-orientated day.Food comes in the form of a rotating roster of onsite food trucks. On the day we stopped by, the crash of woks and the aroma of sambal clued us in that it was an Indonesian lunch we’d be eating. Noni’s Food Truck serves up plump golden squares of vegetable-stuffed tofu ($3/each) as entrees, not that you need one as the box lunches are pretty substantial. Your go-to dish is the nasi campur ($22) for the excellent beef curry. It’s dry and flavoursome, eating more like pulled rendang than a saucy curry. It comes with a mound of rice, a salad dressed in peanut sauce, and chicken noodles, neatly arranged on a banana leaf. The noodles, mie goreng ($17) with chicken or tofu are also served separately. They eat best with a little pot of lemongrass chilli paste ($1.50) on the side. Even the brewery’s merchandise is worth a look, with hats, shirts and beer drinking paraphernalia in soft coastal colours.

All the beers were well executed, including the lagers (which appear to be a difficult style for many small scale breweries). Really friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere, this was definitely one of my favourite breweries to visit during this trip. I'd love to come back and have a chance to sit down with the brewer, talk recipe development, water chemistry, hoping schedules, fermentation profiles and generally geek out on the technical aspects of making great brews.

Outstanding night for our nephews wedding. The venue was brilliant and the beer which they brew themselves was excellent. They couldn’t do enough for our nephew and his gorgeous bride. Would highly recommend the brewery for any occasion.

Great beers, the hot wings from the food truck are probably the best we’ve had (and we know our wings), and they get extra points for having a (stingless) sugar bee hive. Will definitely visit again.

Beer was ok, does have a food truck which is there routinely but not their own restaurant. Food truck was pretty good and decently priced. Across the street from flaming galah brewery as well. Nice surfy vibe and has games for children/family.

This place is awesome - there's a really relaxed vibe, the staff are great, the beer is fine and dogs are welcome both inside and out. There's a cute little kids corner too with some climbing equipment and inside there's a whole stack of communal games to share. We arrived just after opening on a Saturday and it filled up super fast. Definitely a must visit if you're in the area!
