Gold rush in 1850's yielded thousands of ounces of gold visible to the prospectors of the time. Its a no go protection zone now but areas bordering are open for gold panning but I must advise NO MECHANICAL DEVICES ALLOWED LIKE PUMPS AND HIGH BANKERS ALL BANNED IN NSW ,BEWARE FINES ARE MASSIVE AND VEHICLE AND EQUIPMENT CONFISCATED AT discretion OF RANGERS ... Be wise and do right thing so we can still have a pan and nv leave any garbage behind , The place after pulling camp should look like nobody was ever there .
