Bupa Aged Care Seaforth

Shocking news today about the treatment of a vulnerable Dad .I am appalled that staff like this man are employed to look after vulnerable people.Shame on you Bupa you are negligent in employing staff that physically abuse patientsWhere is the supervision ? For staff?It’s shocking to see it can happen on our doorstep.I think cameras should be installed in all roomsTo protect patients andSpend more money in employing ethical staffShocking newsLocal resident

Hotel like surroundings, affluent suburb etc does not make up for the lack of professional operations of this care facility nor the appalling level of care. An aged care facility is only as good as the management allows it to be & unfortunately this one is a FAIL.

I was going to put my mother in here early last year. I am thankful that I did not. Under staffing and its inherent problems seems to be a major factor in the Bupa homes I am familiar with and until Bupa Head Office address that issue problems will continue to arise. The Royal Commission I imagine will be looking closely at this issue although I would hope that Nursing homes preempt the Commission and start employing more staff now. .

This care home has beautiful surroundings and in my experience the vast majority of non medical care workers were highly professional and absolutely wonderful with residents in their care.Unfortunately the medical care that was afforded to my mother was very substandard and the pallative care was disgraceful.It is very easy in nursing home situations to 'bury' medical mistakes and shortcomings. Never be disuaded from calling an ambulance if you are concerned. I will always regret not insisting that my mother be taken to hospital 1 week prior to her death bought on from severe untreated dehydration.The night before my mother died I was forced to call an ambulance to get her basic pallative treatment. The words of the paramedic will haunt me always on going through my mothers file and looking at her admission photo. How can someone go from looking as she did 3 weeks ago to the state she was in now with no pre existing life threatening conditions"

If I could choose 0 stars I would. The experience I had with the staff at Bupa was ridiculous. My 90 year old mother was admitted here and lasted for 2 months before we took her out.First problem was that I was constantly repeating my mothers medication information and they still didn’t understand and probably gave her the wrong meds in that case.Secondly, if you want your elderly to be neglected and left alone even after requesting assistance, then this is the place to go.Not only this, but my mother is on oxygen 24/7 with chronic lung disease and they decided it would be a good idea to take her oxygen tank and give it to another patient without any discussion, leaving her without.Not to mention, I witnessed an elderly woman in a wheelchair fall backwards and the nurses were too busy talking to one another to attend to her until I had to yell for their attention.The manager Susan is a horrible person to deal with. She is rude, condescending, and has no people skills. Wrong industry to be working in. She made a rude & degrading remark about my personal financial status.Riccardo at the front desk was no better. Staff at the front desk are rude and unattentitive, and have no compassion for families of the patients there. Especially during the tough times of covid.Riccardo has also put a biased 5 star review on Bupa so I’d disregard the rating if you see this.I would recommend someone from the health board to review & inspect this place because it isn’t even close to low standard, it is much lower.Do not send your loved ones here if you want them to be happy and cared for.

Disgusting behaviour from the staff at BUPA Seaforth. I will not recommend Bupa to friends.

Thank you staff and management at Bupa Seaforth for looking after my mother. Your professional care, support and empathy have been greatly appreciated. Safe and comfortable environment as well. Great communication between staff and family, we were promptly informed about our mother’s care and health. I would recommend your facility to others.

As a visitor to this facility visiting a loved one at this place, I was almost brought to tears after I left the facility. I cannot believe that animals at the RSPCA receive better care than what I witnessed at Bupa Seaforth:- Kitchen/catering staff verbally told a resident you don't know what you what you can go without" - no skills for managing an obviously demented resident.- My loved one required pain relief from the cancer he was suffering from. My loved one buzzed

From local knowledge this home is quite new when compared to others in the area, and all public areas look quite fresh and clean.A few excellent team members who try their best however, overall this centre lacks the stability of a manager and care team. Procedures and process are lacking. There has been four managers in the past 2 years. While the chef is willing she can only provide really basic meals (at a budget of around $10 a day per resident), the food service is appalling, and many items are out of stock when requested for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Most are in stock, but the staff don't fully understand English, and so, we can only think it is easier for them to say, not available or out of stock."
