Ramen Genki
I and my sister have been frequenting Ramen Genki for 9 years. Their curry rice is simply divine—I’ve lived in Aus, China, UK and even Japan over the years but never found a curry better than theirs. The gyozas are also wonderful. The people there are the most friendly I’ve met in any Japanese restaurant. As I write this comment I find myself craving for their curry rice. Try it :) it won’t disappoint.

Their pork katsu curry is amazing, lots of flavour and quite a large serve.Despite their name, the Ramen is not very good, the soup base is too salty. It is an authentic Japanese place. The staff are very friendly and helpful, but the seating is a bit random and haphazard as you just choose your own spot, and can get quite busy. Sitting outside it’s quite nice though

Delicious, big servings, very quick! Try to get a seat at the counter if you like to watch the food get prepped in the kitchen.

I expect more due to the long queue and good ratings. But it disappointed me that the ramen was lack of vegetables or the hot spring egg that shall be the symbol of sides. And the soup is on average level.

We had quick lunch on recent Saturday at this old Japanese casual restaurant in Artarmon. We ordered mix-don (a rice with fried pork cutlet tonkatsu and fried prawn ebi furai) and ton shogayaki don (stir fried pork belly with ginger sauce + rice). Both dishes were good authentic Japanese lunch staples and we love them. The mix-don was the better option and comes with nice miso soup.We visited second time on recent weekend and tried the Godzilla ramen, tonkatsu curry rice and cream croquette (or korokke as Japanese pronounces it). The curry rice was quite good, but felt a bit let down by the ramen soup which was very thin and light, almost similar with instant noodle soup. The noodle and pork cha-shu were OK but without good soup, the whole bowl did not get my approval. The place is quite spacious and you can choose to sit inside or outside al fresco style. The ambience is reasonable for suburban casual restaurant. The customer services from staff members were reasonable as well. The menu items are quite extensive and prices are competitive with similar set-ups in Sydney. The best thing is that you can pay with all credit cards (including Amex) without additional surcharge - which is the best customer service practice.

This is known to be the oldest ramen shop in Sydney and boy oh boy it didn’t disappoint. The vibe is inviting and quite humble with clean wooden chairs and tables. Staff is friendly and welcoming. We ordered the shio special ramen and chicken katsu curry rice. Both were extremely generous in portions. I truly love their curry sauce that packed a bunch of umami flavours. Will definitely be back for more!

Service is friendly, ramen was tasty. We ordered the classic Tonkotsu - which was delicious, garlicky and well balanced. Also ordered the spicy soy broth, but found it a bit too salty and sour (from pickles) to our palate.

Nice restaurant for Ramen. The food was good, atmosphere is cozy and prices very reasonable. Bit limited selection of drinks.
