Blue Gum Swamp Track

This track is an amazing walk through different habitats from dry to semi-wet eucalypt forest. The main track loops around in a big circle and you can start then turn left down into Blue Gum Swamp that follows a creek by the same name, ascending onto Shaw's Ridge Trail as you make your way back towards the car park area at the end of White Cross Road (which is where you start out).There is a track up the hill called Bees Nest Hill track, that runs off near where the main Blue Gum Swamp Track starts ascending and joining into the Shaw's Ridge Track about 3.9km from the car park along the valley track (Blue Gum Swamp Track). This Bees Nest Hill track takes you to another trail, not relevant to Blue Gum Swamp along Springwood Ridge.Blue Gum Swamp is a naturalist's heaven with many beautiful native Australian birds that can be found along the walk. I, personally have observed probably 100 species of birds, sugar and greater gliders, both common local possums, and some reptiles as well as many species of frogs and invertebrates. My last visit on Thursday 21 October 2021 got me a male Blue Mountains Funnel-web Spider for the first time in my life.It's a very beautiful location, but it can get a bit of foot and mountain bike traffic unfortunately. Therefore, I prefer to walk here at night nowadays.NOTE: Some photos were taken in places other than Blue Gum Swamp, but they are indicative of species I have personally observed in this location.

One of the best trail runs in the Greater Sydney area. Make sure to check out the views at Grose Nest Hill.

Entry level trail, does not offer much of a challenge. I'm a walker but I think this track is better for cyclists (ebike if you're not good with hills). Path is mostly fire trail type; wide, dirt/gravel, open (not much shade so pack some Sunscreen). It's a great track if you are just getting into bushwalking. Easy loop.

The best mountain bike trail I've ridden so far. Head counter-clockwise. It's steep going down the valley floor. Once you get there, you'll be amazed at the lush greenery and cacophony of birds talking to each other. It is roughly a 10-km loop. Challenging climb back up, short and sweet. Hikers and runners about. Good phone reception.

This is a beautiful walk in Winmalee in the Blue Mountains. I just say take the grade 1 walk direction if you want to avoid the steep hill as it is a loop walk.

Great MTB track...and view worth the uphill struggle

Be sure to take the ridge route so you can walk down a very steep hill into a strikingly beautiful valley best described as nature's cathedral. A remarkably beautiful forest awaits you. Enjoy!

One of my favourite hikes along easy fire trails nestled amongst beautiful bushland. The views from the top of the escarpment are stunning!
