This is the first place I looked for a wedding dress and I shouldn’t have wasted my time going anywhere else. Wendy and Geoff are amazing. Wendy had lots of dresses for me to try on and I found my perfect dress which was then custom made to fit me. Wendy and her team are very talented and nothing was too much trouble. I just wanted to share the beautiful experience I had at Wendy Makin Designs in Brisbane. I am not the biggest fan of trying things on, so I was a bit apprehensive before going to my first consultation. However Wendy made me feel so at home. I brought my sister and my one-year-old daughter and as soon as we walked in, we were greeted with a warm, friendly smile. She really made the experience incredibly enjoyable! I was really lucky too - I had a fairly good idea of what dresses I liked and I had a dress in mind that I wanted to try on. It was actually the first dress I put on and was exactly what I was looking for - what are the chances! Both my sister and Wendy were stunned when I walked out and said they think I found the one (I definitely felt I did too). It was just a really beautiful experience and Wendy herself is such a warm, lovely and down-to-earth person - we relayed travel, proposal and wedding anniversary stories to each other as I tried on other dresses. It was just a wonderful experience - and all the dresses are simply stunning! Plus they are all designed by Wendy in Brisbane! If you are not only looking for a gorgeous dress, but a beautiful, local experience, look no further than Wendy’s dresses! Highly recommend!

Wendy and her team created the most incredible custom dress (based on Frankie but with a full skirt) for my wedding in October 2022. I honestly do not know what to say - I am still overwhelmed emotionally by the beauty of the dress and will be forever grateful. Wendy is kind, patient and made the shopping experience uncomplicated and fuss-free. The dress is truly heirloom quality and hopefully I may pass it on one day.

This is a tough review to write as there really was not much positive about our first official visit to a bridal store with my niece to try on dresses. My expectation was that she was going to absolutely feel important and attended to. Sadly in the car on the way home, she recalled feeling the opposite.We were very appreciative to have been fitted in at the end of the day on a Friday, however there was a lack of service that I was truly shocked by.The first thing we noticed was the temperature in the studio. It was hot! I was fanning myself two dresses in, and I wasn’t even having to get changed.The lady picked the dresses that my niece had chosen from the folder, and directed her to the changing space. My sister and I were left sitting at the ‘interview’ table until eventually it was pointed out we could sit in more comfort closer to the fitting room.Not once was my niece helped in or out of a dress, and I could not believe I heard the lady sigh when prompted to assist behind the curtain. I was mortified. Thankfully my niece was oblivious to that. At one stage the lady appeared personally offended when it was pointed out the style of the dress was something that wasn’t preferred, with my niece being informed in a passive aggressive tone, “Oh well, that’s actually what the young women like about it”.My sister and I were desperate to throw in a wild card for her to try on, and I felt sternly put in my place by the lady when my niece did not like it. I couldn’t believe I was actually having to assert myself in this situation.And lastly, which I was absolutely stunned by was the appearance of a man, who came into the studio from a back room. The timing was creepy, as we were just laughing about a very revealing dress that was offered by the lady to try on. The sheer cut outs would have seen her unable to wear any underwear, so the shock of it made my niece, sister and I giggly. Definitely lightened the heavy mood. All of a sudden a man appeared asking what dress it was, with the lady then calling into my niece (from her seat, where she sat most of the time) to call out the name of the dress from behind the curtain (because of course she had to get in and out of it alone). This I found completely inappropriate and unacceptable.I will end with that we can not fault the dresses at all. The options were lovely and enabled my niece to get a better idea of what looked good on her. So we are appreciative of that.Thankfully the following day saw her treated like a queen at two stunning studios, where she received the attention, time and care expected when a young bride is embarking on dress trying and buying.

I knew when I walked into Wendy's showroom that I would find something I loved. After my initial phone call to organise the first appointment, Wendy and her team had pulled the couple of dresses that I had seen on her website that I was wanting to try on. Wendy was extremely helpful, and I only needed to try on four dresses before finding the one". I didn't need to look elsewhere as Wendy's designs are timeless and any dress a bride chooses from any of Wendy's huge range will look amazing in photos for the next 100 years. I cannot recommend Wendy Makin enough, not only for the gorgeous designs but also for Wendy herself. Wendy is one of the most beautiful souls I have met and was so welcoming from the get go. She offered so much of her time, patience and advice as I tried on dresses. She was fully involved in the session and helped picked dresses. She has such a lovely range! Wendy even offered to do some alterations for me and went above and beyond to help. Beautiful location, wonderful service, stunning gowns and reasonable prices!

Wendy made the whole process of finding a wedding dress for my special day such a calm and simple experience.The dress was so beautiful and fit perfectly and I had so many compliments on it. I felt very glamorous!I love that I could have a dress that was made locally from beautiful, high-quality materials.Would absolutely recommend!
