This campground can get noisy at night with drunken fights. Four toilets and four showers in total so avoid peak times, amenities are in poor condition and the lighting is very bad. It's rare to see wildlife as dogs are allowed at this campground. The grass wasn't slashed on our four day visit and tall grain was growing about 400mm high. The water was great for young children as it is very shallow, drifting down to the timber bridge on floaties is recommended. It has unmarked campgrounds so you are free to pick wherever you like, plenty of waste bins around the site. The road in is winding with traffic moving very fast around blind corners so be careful. Our VW Amarok towed a Jayco Hawke to this campground with no problems.

This hidden spot has been a favourite for a few years. You will love tranquility. There's nothing around for miles. It's not usually crowded but the trick is to visit during the week to experience pure tranquillity with the place to yourself. The water is pristine and flowing. The sand banks and depth of water can vary depending on recent rainfall. There are basic toilets and wash facilities in the campground. If you've not booked a camping spot, you won't have vehicle access to the campground. But you can still walk to the toilet block from the gate. There is a parking area for day trippers. A short 100m walk down a bush path will take you to the sandy bank. Remember to bring a plastic bag to put your rubbish with you. I don't have mobile reception when I spend time at Upper Colo Reserve. That's not all a bad thing.

Incredible family riverside day-trip (or even perfect for a quick weekend away at this basic campsite). The river is unspoilt, and is perfect for relaxing in NSW's best kept secret location. You don't need a 4x4, and it's free for day visitors, and it's never crowded. Bring your inflatables and gently float down the Colo river. We will definitely visit again.

Once the bridge is replaced and the area looks like it did before the floods it will be awesome. This is the last pristine river in New South Wales and it has been a go to for a paddle for me since the late 80's.

Great camping spot, plenty or space with a limit to numbers so doesn’t feel crowded. River nice and close with places for the older kids to jump and younger kids to splash in the shallows. Toilet block and fresh water on site.

Great spot for the kids and whole family. Easy drive for all kids of cars even on the gravel parts which is really well maintained. Crystal clear water. Bins for rubbish are there too. Having said that....seriously people, there's bins there, use them you lazy buggers. It's not terribly bad, but disappointing to see that people are that lazy. But that's people, not the the place. The place is awesome.

Utterly brilliant camping grounds set in the pristine surrounds of the Colo River. Facilities are basic and are reasonably clean. Showers are cold. Always helps to carry your own drinking water and bug spray.
