I had a problem for which I needed more fabric. The assistant helped me find as good a match as possible and then offered advice on how to manage the issue. I thought that was pretty good service.

Ferriers used to be a happy gorgeous busy outlet in a great property with an area in the middle for children. The service then and the range of fabrics were all excellent. Since then every visit to the new site has been disappointing. the service is aloof. the range is less, I am so over" the shop that I will not visit it again"

I liked this store much better when Diane Ferrier owned it and was located in a lovely open bright store close by. I went there recently and did not receive a friendly welcome by the 2 ladies behind the counter just blank stares and received nothing going out. This store is so overcrowded with fabrics in a small space that it is very hard to walk around the uneven floor and to see what is available. The prices have increased so much that it is cheaper to buy ready made.

Good shop if you already know what you are looking for - a huge selection of fabric! My only criticism is that the staff were not very helpful - I am a beginner sewer, and wanted to sew my first project in knit fabric. Since there is a huge selection, I asked which one would be the best, and she said 'they're all hard!'. Not helpful. I ended up getting the most difficult to sew with (should have done more internet research!), when a stretch fabric with more structure would have been a better choice in hindsight.It's possible that the staff have been sewing for so many years, that they can't remember what it's like to be a beginner??
