Stoney Creek is hands down one of my favorite spots in Cairns. My daughter and I go here usually twice a week to enjoy a swim and take in the stunning scenery. The water is crystal clear and you can see lots of fish, and if you're lucky, you might even spot a freshwater turtle or two. What's great about Stoney Creek is that it's not too crowded, so you can really enjoy the natural beauty of the area. The water is also nice and refreshing, which is perfect on a hot day. Plus, there are plenty of shady spots to relax and have a picnic.Overall, Stoney Creek is a fantastic spot for a swim and a day out with the family. We always have a great time here and can't recommend it enough. So if you're looking for a beautiful, natural spot to cool off in Cairns, be sure to check out Stoney Creek - you won't be disappointed!

Lots of greenery. Good road to take a leisurely walk, fresh and pollution free air ,what else we want to enjoy and keep our mind calm and cool.

Stoney Creek is a beautiful fresh water swimming place. Be careful when lots of rain as fast water flowing. Nice and refreshing after a few hrs at the beach

This place is a hidden gem that is just waiting to be explored! Alot of the locals go here, but not many tourists know of it making it the perfect place for a swim in the rainforest without the crowds! There is multiple spots all the way up the creek so you can find your own spot, sit back and relax! There's fish, birds, turtles, lizards, everything! People have even found gold here! But don't get your hopes up! The path up the creek is a rocky one, if it's been raining, would not recommend to venture up, it's slippery and not very safe in thongs or for kids but if it's been dry, put your sneakers on, pack a bag and start walking! There's spot from the beginning all the way up to 1km, there is a 100m small rock walk going up that you need to be pretty stable and able. Would not recommend to anyone with bad ankles, back problems, or anyone with injuries.

One of my favourite places to go to swim all the time. Also super safe even when it’s been raining heaps and great place to start the Douglas Track from. Lots of spots to swim so you don’t have to hang with others if you don’t want to. Waterfall at the top!

A beautiful place to visit. Very short walk to the first swimming spot. The water is shallow enough for toddlers with deeper bits for the grown ups. Such a stunning swimming spot!

Need to have some local knowledge otherwise you could miss the best spots. We visited here in September holidays 2022, has been a bit dry, so not alot of flowing water. We crossed the small bridge just after carpark and noticed a few people swimming on the left side of the bridge upon a few rocks. We got told to go straight up the hill as soon as you cross the vridge go up about 30 metres, then find a track that has been made to the left, you start to go down and will be greeted with a nice pool with soft rocky bottom at the bottom of some falls. Deep enough to put your head underwater, and enough flow to keep the water fresh. This local Track is cumbersome and steep in points, tree roots, loose sharp rocks aplenty, but get past this and you will be rewarded.
