BIG4 Lake Maraboon Holiday Village

The admin lady there really needs some training, absolutely rude, no personality, not helpful at all, no smile, just killed our good mood we were in. We went in to ask if the restaurant was opened and she just said no and doesn’t know when it will be back open and questions about the kayaks which she was not helpful at all so we left. I wasn’t going to make this until I saw a FB post in the emerald page saying the same thing about her.

We've been going for 12 years for 3 months at a time. As pensioners we always pay fortnightly, but new management expect full payment up front with no refunds available for early departures in case of emergency. Very disappointing for all our friends snd ourselves who visit each year.

Have been visiting this park yearly for the last 18 years, have seen it change hands many times and always kept improving how ever the last time we visited we felt that the restaurant area and bar had greatly deteriorated. Not many menu items available, the lady serving the drinks was more interested in making her partner drinks to try than she was to serve us, the cocktails were horrible and not accurate(mango daiquiri came out and was just long life orange juice with a spirit in it). We always loved the restaurant and management of this park but felt like it was not a priority of theirs anymore. Pool has also deteriorated and deck on it unsafe, toilets weren’t cleaned for a few days when we were there.We do definitely miss the way it was when John was there and Jeff and Andy prior. Perhaps they had just taken over and were in a rough patch working things out, we Will continue to stay here as we have so many fond memories and we hope to see it go up from here.

Went camping here on the weekend and had the absolute best time. Staff were super helpful. Toilets, showers, pool and cooking facilities were amazing and clean. Can't wait to get back here

has so much potential, have been there a few times now loved it but over the the last cpl of weeks I've noticed it gone down hill fast , which is a shame. don't know what's happening but it's not as clean as it use to be. doesn't seem like it gets cleaned at all now. and it's like it's running on empty. so disappointed. not worth the trip out and your better of staying in town as there is nothing for the kids to do.. hard to beleive it's a big 4 at the state that it's in actually , fingers crossed they get their act together. and get it back to how it was a cpl of months ago.. wouldn't recommend it to anyone sadly.

Nice quiet location out of the way of busy holiday spots. The email confirmation we received mentioned that we had to book the restaurant by 4pm to ensure that we could be catered for, however upon arrival we were informed that due to staff shortages they couldn’t open the Restaurent. We barely had enough food on us but managed to get by.Lots of people had come a long way to get to this place, located on Fairbairn Dam, for the famous red claw lobsters / yabbies. I can imagine it would get quite busy, and competitive, with almost a guaranteed supply of lobsters to eat or take home. You will need a fishing permit for this dam, which you can buy online. The wifi in the cabins was acceptable and some mobile coverage existed.The bird life was probably a little too friendly but overall not a bad joint to get away from city life for a bit.

Yards were clean, but toilets and showers never got cleaned between Friday evening and Tuesday morning. Men's toilets were dirty. The same went for ladies' toilets. Rubbish bins got emptied Monday mid morning, most bins around camp kitchen were full and covered with maggots.The swimming pool was clean. Wish the closing time was later than 6 during summer time as it was hot and cool swim would have been nice later on the evening.Worse Big 4 camp ground we have visited, which is pity as we like Big 4.
