Berowra Christian School

In my experience, this is the most exceptional school. I went here as a child and now as a parent I am equally delighted by the care, values and authenticity of BCS. As someone involved in education in Sydney, I am impressed by the curriculum, programming and excursions that BCS have implemented for the children. I can't recommend it highly enough from the perspective as a past student, parent and as someone involved in education.

oooh, i am the first reviewer..! my kids went to waitara public school and mount colah public school (they moved bc we moved house) before i discovered BCCS for my son. he was starting year 3 when we moved him. we didn't move my daughter as she was happy at mount colah (she had a good teacher and was almost finished there anyway)anyway...on to the review - if you are anywhere near this school, or near a bus that will take your child/ren there - enrol them. the fees are reasonable, the teachers and principal and all the staff and lovely. the office folks are always smiling :)It is a small school, so year groups can be very small. this is a worry for some people, but i would say, after almost 2 years there, and friends with their kids there, that this is absolutely not a worry. The classes are composite, but the teaching is stellar. also - although there are only 5 year 4 boys including my son, that only means that he plays with all ages - acutally *ALL* the kids play together, switching year-group playmates off and on. It's like a big family, and watching the older ones look after the younger, and the younger ones looking up to the older ones, is a really lovely thing to see.the principal and teachers make sure everyone is playing nicely, and they have a twice-yearly survey targeting bullying each child takes, which is then followed through on if necessary. because the school is small, every child knows every other child, so there is never any vagueness about bullying or potential bullying - it is nipped in the bud straight away. i have seen it dealt with, respectfully and quickly.the reports are quite personalised, tailored to your child, unlike some public ones i've read where i've wondered if they knew or liked my child at all. Here, they really do! one of my son's friends just got an award in Cubs, and both his teacher and principal (who co-taught the class, actually) were invited with my son to come watch the ceremony. they both came and were there supporting and photographing him like they were his family. this is a school where your child will be looked after, taught really well, and loved. it is a truly christian school, and we are blessed to be there.
