Pentridge Prison Tours

Great experience on the tour of H Division. Tour guide did a great job conveying the history and I really enjoyed the free-roaming nature of the 'immersive' tour. Would definitely recommend!

I had the pleasure of taking a tour of Pentridge Prison recently, led by the incredible guide Damien, and I must say it was an experience that exceeded my expectations in every way.Damien's knowledge of the prison's history was second to none, and he had an incredible ability to bring the stories of the inmates and the prison to life. He was engaging, enthusiastic, and passionate about his subject, which made the tour not only informative but also entertaining and enjoyable.The tour itself was well-organized, with plenty of opportunities to explore the different areas of the prison, from the cells to the exercise yards, and learn about the various inmates who were once housed there. Damien's anecdotes and stories added a fascinating layer of depth to the experience, and he answered all of our questions with patience and expertise.Overall, I can't recommend this tour enough, and Damien's guidance was absolutely essential in making it such an unforgettable experience. If you're interested in history, true crime, or just want to see a fascinating part of Melbourne's past, this tour is a must-see, and Damien is the perfect guide to bring it all to life.

I booked myself a combo ticket and got to see both B & H Division. Highly recommend both of the tours.We were first led by the tour guide Shaun who is very knowledgeable. He took us around the grounds and talked to us about the history of pentridge. I was amazed to learn it was nearly 150 yrs old!He then took us into B Division where we got to see the rare remains of an original panopticon. We then were given an audio device to hear the moving & powerful stories from prisoners and prison guards.Afterwards I went onto the H Division Tour led by Michelle who delivered an amazing tour and revealed so much about the maximum security section of Pentridge. A really sweet and intelligent guide who answered a lot of our questions. This section looked quite different to B Division but it was well presented with a different set of stories on the audio set. We also got to see some projections in the cells.I need to comeback and experience the night tours but I was blown away by the rich history of Pentridge. The shop/reception staff were also very kind and helpful which made it all the more enjoyable. The tour guides are fantastic as well couldn’t recommend it enough.

The prison has been beautifully restored / expanded.We did two tours;- 1st: a family lite version (attached to the hotel). This is something my 8 year old did with us and listened to all of the audio tour. Like a PG version.- 2nd: H Division block. This is more like a PG13-17 version (more details but nothing you'll have nightmares about)We were there from 11 am to 3:30 pm and it was a plenty experience for the family.

Recommended to me but it’s an old run down hotel, no room service, communal showers, went in autumn and was cold, no heating or cooling! Def worth a day visit just not overnight

Absolutely mesmerizing tour. Brilliantly organized, expert/charismatic tour leaders and is a must see experience. Be prepared to be challenged emotionally but leaders are respectful for all ages beyond 15/16 years old. Faultless and worth every penny

Great tour of Pentridge H division, an infamous insight into our seedy past.Very informative and would recommend to anyone over 16.

I recently went on a tour of the Pentridge Prison, it was interesting to see how old the prison is and to see how it's changed over time. The guide provided insights about the prison's past, including the types of prisoners who were held there and the conditions - the audio guide inside was great. To hear the actual voices of the inmates was so interesting.Overall, I would highly recommend the tour. It was an all round well-organized and informative experience, and I left with a greater appreciation for the significance of this site in Melbourne's history

Managed to tour both B & H Divisions. Highly recommend this tour as it's informative, immersive, emotional, entertaining and educational. Add in fantastic staff and knowledgeable guides.
