Cedar has culinary aspirationsS30°27.182' E152°53.834' This new restaurant started in 2016 in a 108-year-old renovated church in Bellingen NSW. It added more dining rooms on both sides of the church and offers the church for events. Outside seating is available too. For a Wednesday evening in September, the restaurant was busy.In September 2018, we ordered from a two-page menu grass fed 250g Dorrigo sirloin with hand cut chips, paris butter, rocket & pickled fennel salad (AU$24) and crispy skin wild caught Australian Barramundi with Bonville oyster mushrooms, cauliflower purée, romanesco, pickled fennel salad & walnut pangrattato (AU$24). Both main dishes were well prepared but a bit too salty. Not necessary to improve the taste of the main dishes and the salt remained in our mouths afterwards. Apart from the taste, we were not sure grey-coloured tableware enhances the presentation of this food, but the chef did a fine job not stacking the food. Although there was room for improvement in the taste and presentation department, the food was the result of good cooking, not gourmet.For desert, the cheese platter (AU$19) was a successful conclusion to this diner. The brie, cheddar and blue cheese, all from Australia, were excellent. Unclear why pickled paprika, zucchini and heated olives were present. The quality of the olives was disappointing and distracted attention away from the fine cheese.The owner staffed the bar and assisted the servers while talking to the guests about the food. The service was a bit too slow, but not disturbing the diner. During locals' night, all mains are AU$24 with a free glass of wine.With some clear room of improvement, this diner was pleasant and rememberable. Good food is available in Bellingen NSW. Recommended.

Lovely evening outside enjoying some lovely entrees with a group of friends while the kids played. Beautiful old church refurbished into a nice classy restaurant with outdoor area as well.

I was unfortunately disappointed with our meal here. I was a bit surprised that orders were taken at the bar at what appears to be a fine-dining establishment, but that wasnt a major issue really. The dishes came out in a 1 at a time" fashion

look, this is supposed to be a high end restaurant, and we were looking forward to celebrating a special day, but it was a really disappointing meal. The staff were lovely, the water was great, the bread was nice, but that was about it. Meals were accompanied by inappropriate sauces ( croquettes with tamarind) , squid was greasy and tasteless. Lamb was acceptable. It really was the worst meal we had in Bellingen, and we paid top dollar for it. So disappointing.

Cedar is another of Bellingen's great restaurants! Friendly service, a nice atmosphere and really good food. What more can I say! If you're staying in Bellingen, you are spoilt for restaurants, but don't miss out on Cedar!

My wife and I shared the rib eye steak with chips and young broccoli as a side dish and oh boy it was delicious!! I’ve had a lot of good steaks, but this one is in my top 10 for sure. Super tender and juicy! They added something special to it. Balsamic maybe?Staff was friendly as well. 5/5.

My daughters recent wedding at CedarBar was fantastic. Victoria was a dream to work with on all levels during the organisation & on the wedding day. The CedarBar staff were mostly above & beyond exceptional! A truely iconic venue in Bellingen that has been lovingly restored to hold on to its past as a church. It embraces all the charm of its origins & has great modern conveniences.Every aspect of the wedding planning at Cedar Bar was accommodated by Victoria who has an eye for detail & a personable, easy going manner. Everything fell into place seamlessly on the day. I’d definitely recommend Cedar Bar venue ❤️

From the moment we first met the Cedar Bar team we knew we were in the very best hands for our wedding day. The venue is not only decorated beautifully with stylish furnishings, its old church charm mixed with modern finishings makes it the perfect place to celebrate a wedding! We had our ceremony in the function room, then our reception in the courtyard for a relaxed Cocktail Canapé service and dancing into the evening. We started with a round of speciality cocktails, a grazing table, oysters then a variety of canapés and finally we finished with cake which the staff cut and served. Everything was of such a high standard; the planning, the space, the food, the drinks, the service… they absolutely nailed every aspect and accommodated all our special requests and questions in the lead up to the big day. Many of our guests have said it was the best wedding they’ve ever been to! Victoria, Paul and the Cedar Bar team really made our wedding day dreams a reality and we could not recommend them more highly. Thank you!
