Great Lake Hotel

Room was great. Lovely and clean. Day bed along windows was a nice place to sit and relax. Unfortunately a lot of the view was blocked by buildings, water tanks and plants. Nikki (not sure on spelling) lent us a couple of blankets to sit under to watch the footy. The meal was lovely in the dining room and reasonably priced. Really nice atmosphere. Lovely open fire. The staff were incredibly helpful and extremely friendly.

The friendliness and warmth of service at the Great Lake hotel has been amazing. Our room is beautiful, clean and cosy with everything we could need. The food and atmosphere in the restaurant were wonderful, we could not fault the experience in any way. Every staff member we interacted with was professional, kind and nothing seemed too much to ask, in particular our waiter Dylan was so patient and helpful. There is clearly a lot of love that has been invested in this business and it is reflected in the incredible staff. We would stay and dine here again in a heartbeat.

Lunch with a view of the Great Lake.I had read good reviews and was not disappointed. Friendly and efficient service staff that couldn’t do enough for us. I had the carnivore pizza and had to box up half. Only a lumberjack could eat the very large pizza I was served up. Carnivore pizza is enough for two normal people to share. $24. My husband enjoyed the sweet potato chips and garden salad. Both generous servings and reasonably priced.

Words Escape Me....I have been to the Great Lakes Hotel as a regular patron over the past year. My wife and I have enjoyed the pub, the meals and the weather.In fact I visited the pub twice this week - driving from Devonport. Early this week we had a great meal and a lovely night.Then there was tonight....We had a table booked for 730 and ordered our meals at 720. It took a little over an hour to get our meals, and while not great I could understand this.When my wife's meal did not arrive with the other five meals we did not pursue this. The waitress then let us know that there was an issue with part of the meal not being available. The waitress then returned and informed us that the meal was further delayed because another part of the meal was unavailable.Half an hour after the five meals had been served I asked when the meal was going to be served. Apologies were offered and I was told the meal was on the way. Another ten minutes later I asked the same question and was told in no uncertain terms that it was not his fault and that they had served 287 meals tonight and what would I like him to do about it. The staff member was rude and abrasive. I was just stunned.After a further five minutes the meal was presented at the table and the staff member ranted about the 287 meals that they had served that night and implied the delay in the serving of the meal was our problem (at this stage nearly two hours after we had ordered).My wife was very upset at this stage and just wanted to leave (in tears). I walked my wife out to the car and went back in to pay.The staff member I had been dealing with was nowhere to be seen. I explained to the female staff behind the bar what had occurred and that I wanted to just pay the bill and leave. I also told them that I was not upset with them - rather the boorish, arrogant and rude behavior of the male staff member.He then came out of the kitchen and proceeded to hurl abuse and tell me that the meal was at no charge and that this was what I had been working to achieve.I am fifty years old and have never had a meal bill reduced, let alone not paid.When I am in a restaurant I just ask for good food, prompt service and polite dealings (both ways) with staff.I am deeply disappointed with the events of this evening, it all revolves around one person - the manager on duty tonight and their inability to fix an issue.In short I will never go back to the Great Lakes Hotel and would not recommend it to anyone. How proud you must be.....

This place gave us the best meal we had on our trip. Everything was great. Once you step in, it's a cosy cabin vibe, not just a pub feel. There are 2 fireplaces, so you'll feel nice and toasty coming in from the cold. The service was outstanding. It was fun, friendly, welcoming and came with a few jokes in between. The best part was the food itself. The salt and pepper calamari was perfectly crispy with a great dressing. The fish and chips were battered nicely, best we had in Tassie. The seafood chowder was also a hit, with plenty of seafood chunks in it. Good beers on tap as well. Prices were the same as you'd pay anywhere in Tassie. A great experience overall. Make sure to come in for a meal when you're in the area.

Lovely stay on a powered site out here in Miena at the Great Lake Hotel. Super friendly staff who although not having any vacancies, still helped us by running power to us regardless. Very happy. Would recommend this place if you're passing through.

Hotel rooms have been upgraded and are really gorgeous inside. Beautiful and clean with a great little heater for the cold nights. Our room had a big bay window - perfect spot to read or have a cuppa. Also they had really great quality tea, coffee and toiletries in the room which was a really lovely touch! Staff very friendly and welcoming.

This may be the first negative review I have ever left. Having been a small business owner for many years I know how important reviews are.We have been regular visitors to the restaurant, twice this week but last nights disaster means we won't be back.I have understanding when venues are busy, when staff make mistakes but the male manager who was on last night was the most rude and unprofessional human being I have ever come across.To abuse your patrons rather than simply owning the issue and a sincere apology blows my mind. What a fine example you are showing your staff.I'm so sad and disappointed with this experience.
