Birth by Mother Doula

Kristy was a fantastic support and i could not of done it without her.When i found out i would have to labour and birth without my partner kristy stepped in last minute to be with me, we had not even met until she turned up to the birthing suite. Kristy helped suggest different positions and listened to what i needed, she came equipped with everything and possibly anything i could of needed and having the Rebozo was a godsend and something that really helped to support me through contractions.Although i did not need any pregnancy or post partum support i know without a doubt that if i did kristy would be a wonderful addition to anyone’s journey into motherhood.

Kristy is a wonderful doula who goes above and beyond. I initially contacted Kristy to hire out the TENS machine for labour. Upon meeting her, she put me at ease and went out of her way to obtain another product I was struggling to find. I decided for the birth of my second child that I would have a home birth. Due to a private midwife being so expensive (private health doesn’t cover home birth) I decided to go with MGP through my public hospital. Knowing that I may not get the same midwife throughout my pregnancy or at my birth, I decided to hire a doula. That way I would have that continuity of care and at least one face that I know would be there throughout it all. After researching a few different doulas, I decided that Kristy would be the best fit. As she seemed to be very similar to myself and after meeting with her, knew she was the one. She followed me all the way through, was full of knowledge and so resourceful, made me feel powerful and strong in advocating for myself and was an amazing support for not only me, but my partner and midwives. On the day of my birth she came over as soon as I wanted her there, held my hand, gave me moral support and when I was at my lowest and didn’t think I had anything left in the tank, she kept pushing me and kept me in the right headspace to get through it! Since birth she still continues to check in and see if we need anything!We are so thankful for Kristy and we now have a lifelong friend.I 100% recommend Kristy and if I have another baby would hire her again in a heartbeat!

Kristy helped me plan and educated me on thing I don’t know about birth as a first time mother. Although my birth was rocky she was there by my side informing me, assisting me and keeping me accountable to make my own choices. She helped my partner understand and assist me where he could and allowed him a break after a long labour. The post birth help has been great too for questions, someone to confide in and someone to debrief with.My birth was traumatic but I feel peace knowing the choices I made were my choices thanks to Kristy and my midwife’s excellent teamwork and trust in each other.X
