It’s been two years since we attempted to purchase our new home from Harcourts and I still find myself thinking about the horrible experience we had - twice! Like many others, we were unfortunately purchasing during the frenzy in 2021. It was an incredibly stressful time but I believe it was made worse by one of your agents. The first time we met this agent, we put in an offer for the most perfect house for us. Our offer was well over the asking price and another offer was on the low end of the scale. We went from thinking we had pretty good chance to going through the most disheartening ‘bidding war’ between us and the other party. It was like an auction, and because it was the first time putting in an offer, we didn’t realise this wasn’t the norm. Clearly the other party had more money to spend but we were put through the ringer, offering as much as we could given our first offer was already high. No joke, it got to the point of going back and forth for a thousand dollars. Why the agent couldn’t have said to both of us to put in our highest offers rather than the back and forth?!The second time we dealt with the agent, we put in the highest offer again, but the seller would not accept a conditional offer - building inspection and subject to finance. Which is fine but we weren’t going to budge on those things when buying a house for almost a million dollars… Instead the agent was trying to encourage us to go unconditional! Incredibly irresponsible ‘advice’ and it too was a disheartening experience, leaving us feeling like we were doing the wrong thing with our very minimal conditions! I don’t know if the agent just assumed we were naive (and yes we were to some point)Thankfully, we found are perfect home not long after and love it. This agent was much easier to deal with and you could tell he had the best interests in BOTH the seller and buyer.I don’t usually provide negative feedback online, especially after two years but everytime I see one of their signs, I remember how awful our experience was. Of course it’s upsetting to miss out on houses you fall in love with but the issue is with just how they were handled.

Ive been renting with Harcourts for about 3 years and now I'm in a new place which is still with Harcourts and they have been absolutely amazing. Everyone I have dealt with are so helpful and very lovely people to deal with. I can't think of a better real estate to be with.
