Alterations for you

Ali is an amazing tailor. He is at the top of his field. I have been to many tailors over the years for my alterations, but no one comes close to how professional his work is. A very satisfied returning customer.

I have never written a review before, but I was so displeased at the quality of work and customer service at this establishment, I felt it was necessary. If 0 stars was an option, that is the rating I would give. The staff at 'alterations for you' perform alterations which are poor quality and lazy. Additionally, the staff, particularly the man who owns the establishment are rude and unprofessional when there is an issue with the quality of their work. When I picked up my garment, the stitching was messy and not under any circumstances straight, to the point where the item was not wearable. The work quality was so poor, I am convinced the man closed his eyes when he was using the sewing machine.After politely bringing this up with the owner I was given a rude and dismissive response and after a long discussion, where I had to outline the rights of consumers he eventually agreed to fix his incredibly poor work quality. However, even after this the final product was well below average, and was not fixed promptly. The owner of this establishment has no pride for his work and no respect for his customers or their items. Take your items anywhere else and they will do a better job. In fact, you may as well just perform the alteration yourself.

Ruined a brand new expensive pair of jeans that they now look like leggings. I took my jeans in to be hemmed only, they recommended I also have them tapered in “a little bit” given they needed to be hemmed quite a bit. Big mistake taking what I thought was their professional advice. Not only did they hem the jeans to a different thread colour to the rest of the jeans, they were tapered in too much, rather than “just a little bit”. The woman offered to redo the hem for me in the correct colour and to release some of the tapering, but the damage was done already and I wasn’t going to hand my jeans over for another attempt. Having visited another alterations place I realise what poor workmanship was done on my jeans. I was advised by my new alterations place that the best way to normally hem jeans is to use the exisiting hem to stitch back on so that they maintain the original look. I rang back to find out if they still had my exisiting hem, and they didn’t. When I asked why wasn’t the existing hem used, the response was, “ it was to thick and that she thought the jeans looked better this way”. This should not have been a decision for her to make. I’ve had jeans hemmed in the past elsewhere and the original hem was always used, I only went here because it was local. Poor workmanship, and very overpriced!! Think twice before bringing your items here.

Worst customer service. Quoted me $50 to sow buttons. Then when I returned the following week with my mum to have it adjusted to her size she quoted me $65. Spoke rudely when I advised her of her previous quote. Staff were incredibly rude and unprofessional. Very overpriced.

Highly recommend !! I have been a loyal customer for over 4 years now. Ongoing exceptional service, fast turnaround, particularly when you are time poor, friendly staff. Recently I bought an Alex Perry dress from Strand boutique and was quoted $500 for alterations, Cathy did the work for $200 !!

Very impressed with the outcome of the tailoring done here. Extremely professional and reasonable pricing.Definitely recommend this place for all alteration needs

$85 for leather jacket sleeve shortening. I said it was about $30 more expensive than other shops. The young, brown-skinned, glass-wearing staff folded her arms, said if you don't like the price

The worst service I have ever experienced, dropped off 2 dresses to get straps & only 1 hem put up, I was charged $85 for next day service, went at 5pm the next day to pick up my Camilla & scanlan & theodore dresses, nothing was done & worst of all my dresses were thrown in a bag like rags. Absolutely devastated, I demanded the woman to call the man who I dropped off the dresses to and she refused. It was a no win situation. I took it to the alterations place outside coles on the other side they only had time to do 1 dress and completely saved me. Don’t go there!!!!!

I never write reviews but the service and quality at this place is horrendous. After getting my 5 year old’s school uniform hemmed here, she went to school and complained of something bothering her leg inside her dress - eventually her teacher found a 1 inch pin sticking into her leg that had been left inside the hem. It wasn’t sticking out when I checked it but must have poked out as she moved around and sat. We were lucky she wasn’t badly hurt, but that could have pricked her deeply if she’d sat directly on it and caused serious pain.When I took it back the owner laughed and said mistakes do happen as she quickly removed it. I was shocked and said that was completely unacceptable and she then yelled at me saying ‘well what do you want now? It’s done!’.. I was so shocked to not even receive an apology after the huge price we had already paid AND the fact they had forgotten to make the alterations in the first place, and we had to wait an hour while they quickly did it on the spot (probably why it was done so poorly!). Will never return here, take your garments elsewhere!
