Wilmot Hills Orchard & Distillery

This is the best place I have ever stayed in my life time. A beautiful view of Cradle Mountain, a rustic cabin which has got all you need with an amazing landscapes. Owner - Joe is a great personality and very caring who makes sure your stay is memorable. Not to forget - you also have a company of his energetic dog named JET, and he is as fast as JET.An early morning view of this place will blow up you mind and make you feel you living in New Zealand.Lastly Joe also offers his variety’s of sprit tasting like Wilmot Gin, Brandy, apple cider, wine etc.I must say you should book this place if you plan to visit Tasmania.You can also find pictures at our insta page - aesthetic_coral_09.

This is a great distillery to visit. The owner was friendly and chatty, with great wines and gins. Oh and a lovely dog! If coming back to Tasmania, I would absolutely return!

Wow! What fantastic reviews! Ditto to all of them! :) Hubby and I dropped by on our way back from Boat Harbour to Launceston. We were glad that we did. Jo and his lovely dog Jet made us feel real welcome. We had a cheese board and tasted quite a bit of the distilled liquor. Couldn't resist buying some. Jo is going to expand his cabin accommodation and when he agreed to install outdoor spas overlooking the fabulous countryside.... I was sold! We will be back :)

Amazing host, very welcoming and down to earth. Was greeted with a cheese platter and a beautiful collection of wine, gin, brandy and apple cider. Definitely recommend stopping by this distillery for a relaxed a friendly time. Jet the dog was absolutely gorgeous company to have!

Great fun, Jo the owner is happy to discuss his knowledge and know how. It was great to try a variety of wines, ports, gins, etc while kicking the ball for the dog. Walked away with a Blueberry Gin and Cherry Port. With the stop and visit.

We stayed here and tasted his spirits. Jo is a lovely host. He is giving of both his time and space and really opens his home to make you feel welcome. The room itself is a private detached cabin so you have access to his amenities but still have your privacy. His dog is adorable and makes you feel like a part of the family. We shared nice meals, chats and Jo gave us great advice. His gin is really excellent as his Apple brandy. We even bought some as gifts for friends. Great stay & great drinks!

What an absolute gem of a place to stumble across! Instantly taken by the scenery at the distillery but even more taken by the welcome party (Jet aka Very Good Boy) and the amazing selection of alcohol on offer. My favourite was the Apple Cider which my partner and I downed pretty quickly. My partner hasn't stopped raving about the Ginger Beer either. Jo, thank you for the experience and your hospitality. We will be back!

Stumbled on this distillery on our way to Cradle mountain.Jet greeted us, with a wagging tail, ball in mouth and ready to play!Jo was welcoming, chatty and friendly, full of knowledge and stories.The spirits are delicious and very generous tastings. The cherry port and jet gin were favourites! Definitely worth the stop. Will be returning our next visit to Tassie to see what is on offer!

I stayed at Wilmot Hills Distillery for a week where I helped in the process of creating cider and distilling spirits, had (maybe too many) tastings and enjoyed the amazing landscape with excellent company from Jo, the owner. It was my home-point for a bunch of travelling I wanted to do in the surrounding areas. It's situated in a beautiful location with an awesome view of Mt Roland and is very close to both Devonport and Cradle Mountain. A truly great place to visit and to capture a taste of local Tasmania and the friendly people that occupy it :)
