Black Mountain Peninsula Playground

This is one of the rare Canberra spots that truly has it all, yet retains an unspoiled ambience. The kids swimming area is fenced and shallow. There are plenty of other splashing areas along the beach as well, and you can easily walk the whole peninsula by following the multipurpose path.During blackberry season, there are masses of berries along the path for easy picking. The massive playground includes equipment for small children, older children, teenagers, and wheelchair users, as well as some beautiful large drums and musical benches.Several picnic tables, BBQs and shaded areas make the peninsula a perfect setting for large and small gatherings. There are public restrooms and drinking water available. Plenty of free parking too.

Very nice place for small kids to enjoy themselves

Great, serene area. Good for BBQ's, fishing, even launching a canoe.

Good play area that the kids love - with dedicated little kids playground too that is under shade cloth. Toilet facilities are good enough and there are bins available too. Only issues were the lack of shade in the bigger kids play areas makes it a bit too hot during the height of summer. There is swimming available in the lake too (fenced off area) but check online for the water quality before going in as it can be closed for swimming sometimes

This place is just awesome - good walks around and places to walk the (on lead) dog. A really great place to do family get togethers. Some of the BBQ spots have lake swimming as well which is terrific for a summertime cool off. The kids play equipment spots are pretty impressive (for a kid) too.

Came here on a Monday evening when no one was around and the kids enjoyed having free reign. Well spaced out, with shaded sections for sun protection. Wheelchair accessible swing, heaps of picnic tables and a handful of free bbqs.

Lovely green space, surrounded by water. Great views across the lake. The playground can get a bit busy on weekends.

Wonderful park, has great BBQs, picnic tables and playgrounds. The playgrounds are epic and great for kids. Accessible parking, toilets and lakeside view. There’s also a marked out swimming area, but you can’t always swim in the water because if the blue green algae, but there is generally a sign indicating which days are ok or not. It’s beautiful spot and close to the city, and perfect for a picnic or work Christmas party!

Good sized park for bringing a family or friends for a picnic. A play area for the kids. Bbqs were around as well as toilet facilities. Plenty of parking. Good place to go even for a walk or sit and admire the view.

A lovely and large picnic and recreation area. Lots of grass and trees and water on three sides. Easily accessible by car (plenty of parking) or bicycle from Canberra City centre.
