Michael is an absolute master of his craft and a lovely person to boot. He first style cut my long curly hair last year - LOVED IT and it was exactly what I was after and the first hair cut I’ve had that has really accentuated my curls naturally. This week he cut all my long hair off to just under the chin - LOVE IT and again exactly what I was after. The very clever man used his dry cut technique so I can still wear this short style straight if I want to. Thank you Michael!

Yesterday, I had a haircut with Antoni. This was my first time getting a treatment at this salon and I will definitely be coming back. Antoni was incredibly accommodating and achieved EXACTLY what I wanted and styled my hair beautifully. One of the best salon experiences I’ve ever had. Thank you!

Hair By The Collective has been my Hair Salon of choice for a few years now. My very first appointment here was only made because my Hair Dresser at the time wasn't able to acommodate my booking request - I'm now a loyal customer here and don't see myself changing anytime in the foreseeable future.The main service I receive is up to a full head of foils/ toner for my long, curly, blonde hair. In previous years, I struggled to find the right hair dresser to accomodate to my hair type and get the colour I want. I've had my hair done by nearly all the staff at Hair By The Collective and have always been extremely happy each time. Due to work, most of my appointments are extremely last minute but they always find ways to accomodate for me. The hair service and professional standards here is second to none. The customer service is outstanding and makes you feel so comfortable and relaxed as soon as you sit down with drinks or light snacks at the ready. Could not speak more highly of this business and can assure any new clients that they will not be dissapointed with any of their experiences.

I got a hair cut just couple days ago and Sarah was my hair dresser. She is absolutely amazing. So friendly - it didn’t feel like it was my first time. My hair still looks so great and it is the perfect length. Definitely recommending to my friends ❤️

Washed my hair after receiving my haircut a few days ago, and I was really shocked and upset at how uneven it is and how awful and uneven the layers look. I pointed out before I left the appointment that my hair was uneven and the layers weren't blended but it was the most awkward experience ever - the hairdressers next client was already sitting with wet hair in the next chair over while came back to me to make adjustments. I felt bad for her and really just felt like I had become an inconvenience, asking for him to come back to even up my ends that I could clearly see in the mirror were not even remotely close to being the same length. In the end I smiled and paid because I did not feel that my concerns over the cut would be met with sincere attention. The staff were lovely but unfortunately I won't be returning. I expect that if I'm paying for a senior stylist that I don't have to point out the obvious discrepancy in length, and will be going to a different salon next time where they are less rushed and will take the time to see the whole haircut through before moving on to the next client.

Curly girls, this is the place!! Have been twice now, and my hair has never looked better. Micheal is an awesome stylist who understands curly hair. Great products on offer. Thrilled with the results.

We are all entitled to make mistakesbecausewe are only humanI’ve wanted to write a review about my hair colour experience over a month ago as I aspired to achieve the “perfect” balayage or ombre look and it fell short of this goal. I hope this review is helpful to anyone wanting to go out and spend your hard earned $$$$ on this popular hairstyle, and hopefully this will also help you avoid getting into a mess!I might be the only one person who has a bad experience with this hair salon. I did my research (Reviews are fantastic with this hair salon) and got a recommendation from my friend. However, at the end of the day I wasted my time and money. All I can say is that I had just a bad bad bad bad experience.I wanted to be as ash blonde as possible without the hassle of having significant dark roots. Balayage is supposed to be the solution for low maintenance(well blended), blonde(ish) hair. It is a complex process I have had successfully done before with great result.I decided to see a stylist @hairby_thecollective located in East Brisbane, QLD as my previous hairdresser moved to Sunshine Coast who I’d never been to before. When I arrived at the salon, I showed the hairdresser some photos of what I wanted to look like and mentioned how I wanted to lighten my existing balayage.About 4 hours later, she turned my hair into following photos. She cut more than I requested because the end of my hair melted entirely including my back of the head. I still struggle to brush my hair. I still remember that when she was blow-drying my hair and I saw all white melted hair was floating around.I waited two days and see how it would eventually turn out. I couldn't believe my own eyes. Some days I part my hair different ways and wear it in different styles. After noticing all the misplaced bleach and harsh straight lines, I immediately contacted them for the refund. They suggested me to come back to the salon to fix the problem but how can I trust their skillsets since what've they done to my hair. I debated on just going somewhere else and they decide to refund only $150. Yes, I spent $410 Inc non-stylish haircut.My previous hairdresser, who had done Balayage on my hair before, got back to me and said my toner already washed off TWO DAYS later and I have every right to request full hair colour refund.So, on Saturday, 6 January 2018, I visited the salon for a cut and colour service, on Tuesday, 9 January 2018, I contacted them to discuss concerns with my hair and not completely satisfied with the final result. (The owner even said that my hair melt because I have an Asian hair, thick and black. #casualracism) I sent formal emails on the same day to renegotiate the financial compensation.10 January 2018, I haven't heard from them, so I consulted with Office of Fair Trading Queensland and ACCC for further assistant. I sent another email and guessed when did they get back to me.16 January 2018, they sent an email that they do not wish to refund more than $150 and cc to their lawyer.They strong-armed me.So I booked my next hair colour service to fix and I thought It is just hair… as hard as it is to convince myself when I am actually in this situation, know that a reliable service provider can fix it. It turns out my hair melted enormously and won’t able to retouch my hair for a couple of months. Thanks to you, Hair by the collective.I will never go back after such a terrible experience.
